The Chicoasén Dam officially Manuel Moreno Torres Dam. It is a hydroelectric plant that uses the driving force of water to generate electricity. It is located at the end of the Cañón del Sumidero National Park on the Grijalva River, 41 km northwest of the city of Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas. It is named after the engineer Manuel Moreno Torres, former director general of the Federal Electricity Commission.

The largest hydroelectric plant in Mexico with 8 electricity generating turbines. A whole work and pride of Mexican engineering. In this reservoir there is also a jetty to go to the imposing Sumidero Canyon. Beautiful view and tourist place.
