We had the good fortune of being some of the very first guests at the amazing Maquil, a newly built offshoot of the neighbouring and well-loved Casa Sol. The hosts were gracious and welcoming and the accommodations were fantastic. Our casa had a private pool and open air terrace overlooking beautiful Playa Zipolite, a kitchen with refrigerator and air conditioned bedrooms with private bathrooms. A central communal pool and clubhouse offered a great social space to meet other guests and share a drink at happy hour. Really though it was the service that stood out, making us feel at home and helping us with taxi reservations and restaurant recommendations. A luxurious and comfortable home base to explore Zipolite and surrounding areas. Would love to return.

Maquil a lush tropical getaway nestled in a quaint “greek island” style street. Once you step in, you are Instantly transported to a tropical get away, away from everything but the birds serenading you. Each villa is exquisitely decorated with each detail accentuating what can only be described as perfect pitch taste. Each villa has its own flares and particularities making each a unique little hideaway from the world. The common spaces can be described as being magically transported to an exotic African safari, missing only the elephants. The hotel is owned by a loving hands on couple who pour their heart and soul into each detail of your stay. It is often said in hospitality that the recipe for success is in the details, and Maquil and casa sol have it down to the T. From the staff remembering your name to constantly giving you small tips to make your stay more comfortable, and even serving you with a smile. Casa sol across the street is the main hotel owned by the same owners, this is where breakfast and happy hour will be served, the views here are just amazing. Trust me, you’ll want to soak every second. Don’t miss out on happy hours, they’ll be the perfect opportunity to meet other fellow travelers. Eat in the hotel, the young chef is eager to please, with his own twists on classics. This place is foodie and traveler approved.
