About Marea Surf School
Marea Surf School started in 2017 with an umbrella and 4 surfboards on the main beach in Sayulita. A few years later, not only have we upgraded the umbrella to a tent, but we also have our very own store. We are extremely passionate about what we do and are very excited to meet you. See you in Sayulita!

They gave me lessons and are always flexible on the rentals for my work schedule. Don’t go anywhere else for lessons or rentals.
(Also, they speak many languages which is helpful for the global crowds Sayu is attracting these days).
They even helped me find a board to buy.
Miguel, Charlie, Jose, and Hugo thank you guys for teaching me how to surf! 5/5 all day.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had so much fun with Jose on our private lesson! As beginners, it was nice to have someone dedicated to us personally and give us some expert advice while out on the water. We did two lessons, one at Sayulita main beach and another on a private beach excursion with the Marea Surf School team. We had the waves to ourselves and ended the day in the hot spring pools. Would definitely recommend them to surfers of all levels!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Marea Surf School is the best! Miguel, Jose, and Hugo are all excellent instructors, and our group really enjoyed the quieter beach they took us to outside of town. The price was very fair, and since transportation / gear is all provided, all we had to do was show up at the pickup point.
Take a lesson with them, and enjoy a whole different part of the Sayulita experience :) You won't regret it!

I was impressed with the level of stoke, guidance, and presence they brought to each trip. They were dynamic in their ability to cater to different group needs and skill levels. Marea Surf School embodies surf culture, a relaxed flow-state connected with the sun and tide more than the seconds on a clock. For type-A corporate folk, this may be challenging to grasp, but for anyone looking to delve into an embodied, local surf experience, Marea is the place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ my group and I had an absolutely amazing time with Marea Surf School! We were a group of 8 with not much in the way of surf skills and had varying levels of natural ability :) our instructors were so fun and patient with the different levels, and challenged those of us who were getting up a bit more quickly! By the end of the lesson we had all managed to get up on our boards a few times. Our teachers were not only fun and hilarious, but also really good at giving us individual pointers both on the sand and in the water. Would totally totally recommend this crew, and I can't wait to take another lesson with them next time in Sayulita!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Miguel and team were awesome! I highly recommend booking a lesson through them. They were all super fun and patient instructors that helped us to stand on top of the board in no time. The whole experience was incredible. I highly recommend this place to others looking for a fun experience and a top quality lesson. Everything you could need was included (transport, boards, detailed instruction and lots of tips on how to improve your form).
I can't wait to return and try again!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Marea is the BEST surf school and rental shop in Sayulita! The staff that works there are down to earth, friendly, professional, and also a ton of fun. I became friends with all of them and always knew I could stop by and feel welcomed. They treat each other like family and will take you in like one of their own. They were patient in teaching me the basics and also gave some good tips to my boyfriend who is much more experienced than I was. We both consider being with Miguel and the team a highlight of our trip. THANKS!!
