There's no fridge, coffee maker or ice, no phone in the room, no vending machines, no swimming pool, no beach, this place is a fortress it has a big gate they provide you a remote control to go in and out which it's a pain in the,,, There's no one there to assist you, just one guy in the portable office and is very hard to find him because he is never there, nobody in the restaurant unless you do a reservation, it's located at 3.5 miles from bacalar Google maps shows a service road to get there, but there's none, you need to use the freeway all the time, for what they charge is not worth it

A boutique hotel / resort tucked away from the crowds, with direct access to the Laguna. We stayed 3 nights in a lake view room, and enjoyed the hotel enormously. The terrace on top of our room is a perfect place to stare at the lake any time of the day, especially at dusk. We made some great memories with the kayaks that the hotel kept for guest use. I love the fact that the hotel tries to be eco-friendly with very limited use of plastic bag or paper napkin. The restaurant serves beautifully crafted meals. We chose to eat there every night during our stay, even after trying out the restaurants in Bacalar. The people certainly make our stay very memorable. Edgar brought a lot of joy to our dinner table. Izmael took care of our daily requests and offered very good tips on what to do. Also we like the personal touches of the housekeeping staff. This hotel has managed to combine modern comfort with a tranquil, low key approach to hospitality. Highly recommended.

Be careful with your money, don’t pay in advance. Last year (2019) my partner and I booked and fully paid 2 rooms three months in advance to stay there a couple of nights with two other friends. When we (the four of us together) arrived to the hotel we try to access through an entrance that is just alongside the highway, we pulled out our car and the security guard asked us for our names, after a few minutes he told us that they did not have any reservation with our names, and therefore we were not allowed to enter. We couldn’t see if there was any other entrance, or a visible reception to talk to anyone, so we searched from our booking emails in our mobiles, and we insisted the security guard that we fully paid for both suites three months before, and showed him the confirmation emails. The security guard then talked to someone by radio, and explained the situation, and then they realised and informed us that there was a mistake and the same rooms were booked for other guests who were already hosted, and they did not have any other accommodation for us. We tried to contact the manager by cell phone, and trying to convince the guard for about half an hour, and finally they offered us only 1 room for the four of us, and we accepted since we didn’t have any other option. We were asked to drive first to the restaurant (by car) to have dinner while they prepare our room, but before finishing our meal someone from the management team came to us to inform us that they did not have any room available for us, and that we had to leave the hotel’s installations after our meal, they offered to pay for the restaurant’s bill, and that we’d get our money from the accommodation the very next day. We left the restaurant (and the hotel’s installations) immediately afterwards, and they refunded our money 2 days later.

This was a very disappointing (and a little scary) experience. There was no hospitality, could not find any hotel workers, the rooms appeared nice, until you looked a bit closer...nothing was clean (sheets, showers, towels). The restaurant was mediocre, no fresh water for guests, unless you purchase it from the restaurant. The advertisements looked wonderful, but the hot tub was cold, there is no beach, (just a rocky hillside down to some bushes and rocks at the water’s edge), the hotel itself was dark and a bit unsettling (we ended up finding light switches to light the hallways ourselves). When we requested some assistance on some housekeeping issues (sheets and towels were not clean), there was no staff on the premises, which seemed very strange for a 5 star hotel. Overall, a very negative experience and was a bit scary, with no friendly hospitality or staff around. Odd.

We recently stayed here on Oct 1 2020. The staff Ismael, Edgar are wonderful and attentive. The rooms were spotless and clean. They helped us hire a private boat tour of Laguna De Bacalar. No detail was left aside. Wonderful we would definitely stay here again.

Do not go in this hotel! Supposedly a 4,5 star hotel...well, it’s not! The pictures are really misleading, as they depict only the views from 1 or 2 rooms. Don’t expect facilities like a 4 or 5 star hotel. It’s like 2 apartment building facing the lake. Our room has a great view on the lake but the jacuzzi was disappointing. We always had to add hot water through a faucet because it doesn’t have a water heating system like you could expect. I’m not even talking about the “restaurant” (basically 4 tables outside and no staff to take your order or even take back the plates and dishes of what seemed to be the leftovers of the night before). Then, we’ve been refused an early check in (and I’m talking here of 2:30pm instead of 3pm) Whereas my wife is pregnant and needed to lie down! It was enough, we decided to cancel our second night and ask for a refund. We’ve been told it was not their decision but hotel.com, so we called them to make that happen. But hotel.com process requires to check with the hotel first, and when they tried, the hotel refused to take the call because supposedly they don’t speak English!(Well, I’ve seen their answers on trip advisor and I confirm that they do speak English). Anyway, at the end, the hotel was lying to us saying it was hotel.com decision when it was actually their call and they obviously, they refused to refund us the room... So please don’t go there. I recommend instead the rancho encanto, just 5mn drive from this one. Their restaurant is amazing (one of the best of Bacalar actually), they have a pontoon on the lake, a swimming pool, and an amazing staff service !!! Believe me, you won’t be disappointed with this one. Hope this review will help other travelers who want to have a nice stay in bacalar without hassle with their hotel.

Beautiful and quiet resort in the north east of Bacalar. In the jungle, there are modern buildings that are connected with small roads you can pass with the car and by foot or bicycle. Because of the nice staff, the extensive complex feels like home very soon. They will bring the food of the great restaurant to your room, help with the jacuzzi on top of some of the buildings or give you tips for travel. The communication often works just with a WhatsApp message and a reaction shortly afterwards. :) The rooms are equipped with modern gadgets and furniture. Everything is clean and also fits to European standards. Only the bath rooms on the roof terraces aren’t as clean as the ones in the rooms. In conclusion, I totally recommend this resort/hotel to anyone with an interest in a nice, a bit special and quiet stay with great service! P.S..: I would refer to the vibe of the resort to a Hunger Games or Jurassic Park mood - just cool!
