★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the jewels of Guadalajara this place is a must see. There is a small (2 or 3 blocks) of retail and food stalls, but the wholesale area feels like it goes on forever.
This is where you get to see what is in season around Western Mexico as well as some of the best examples of local culinary traditions. Mercado de Abastos is where all of the other little community markets come to buy their product.
I highly recommend trying Birrieria Aceves, Menuderia Chela and Carne Asadas Alfonso. Then get a coffee with the Korean lady that makes the cookies.
