★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This mercado offers everything from fresh fruit and shoes, to spices and live animals (should you for example be in need of a new travel companion).
I visited this market quite a few times for fresh chaya juice. Thing is though, it’s not necessarily about what you’ve come there to purchase: just walking around the narrow halls of the market taking in the sights and smells is already reason enough to go there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pure living on the market, really huge and endless possibilities to shop. We needed 3 hours to see nearly everything - great experience! Awesome food und fruits for great prices. Definitely recommended.

Plan to stay for at least 3 hours and you won't still see it all. The parking lot is underground.
Visited several times and bought from jewelry, regional clothing, fruit, spices, hammock and bags.
It felt very safe and the vendors were kind.
Stay hydrated!
I'd go back in a heartbeat!!!
