Why don't you focus on the current individuals and address their issues and go from there to make your library better for English-speaking people?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We did the house tour that the English Library offers on Tuesday mornings and enjoyed it very much. They do get a lot of people.. 100 showed up the day we went and they split the group into 3. The homes were lovely and the hosts very gracious and informative. I nice way to spend several hours and see some of the local homes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My wife and I are new arrivals in Merida and we are quickly falling in love with this fabulous city.
As we are both gluttonously avid readers and having spent heaven knows how many Pounds, Francs, Euros, Thai Baht, Costa Rican Colones and Dollars on new and secondhand books over the years, all over the world, discovering the existance of the 'Merida English Library' is just music to our ears.
Janelle, couldn't have been more helpful or welcoming when we visited today.
The library is sadly not open for regular browsing owing to the current pandemic but you can consult their very extensive online catalogue, order what you require and pick up the books the next day.
A fabulously well organised and well run library
and at just 300 pesos for a yearly membership who could ask for more?
Certainly not us.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very easy process to register, 400 pesos for 1 year for a family of 5, each person being allowed to take 5 books for up to 2 weeks at a time. Lovely friendly staff and amazing interior with a couple of rooms, a conservatory type of area and a small garden. Great selection of books as well, we got a couple from the young adults section and some about Yukatan area and Mayan culture but there is also a great selection of fiction and kids books as well. Great when you are traveling to a non English speaking country and your kids love reading but you don't want to carry books around. Every town should have one!

We were just here for a month, but took advantage of their very expansive and impressive catalog of activities. For example, we took their home tour, art gallery tour, and considered their wine tasting evening. Check them out! Even if it’s just to see the cats on the back patio!
