★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Grim. Very basic. Horrible, tiny bathrooms with no ventilation. Mosquitos and cockroaches. Staff were nice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In other stays, we really liked the place, cheap and convenient. But this time the guy at reception was zero friendly or inviting, the room we were assigned was supertiny and there was no ventilation for the restroom. Not sure if we would stay again

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Do not waste your money. The room was horrible. The only good thing I can say was the man working the front desk was nice. When we checked in we were forced to pay for 2 nights. We were told it was because it was after midnight. I'm not sure if it was a scam or not but I've never had that happen anywhere else and I've checked into many hotels after midnight. We were told there would not be any clean towels until the morning. Morning came and there was no towels. After getting tired of waiting hours for towels we had to use our clothes to dry off with after showering. I was traveling with my small children and when we got in our room the electrical outlets were hanging out of the walls, there were only 2 outlets for the entire room. Fortunately no one was shocked trying to use them. Our bathroom door handle was so loose that is was about to fall off. The room only had a ceiling fan, no heat and no air conditioning. The bed was hard and uncomfortable and the pillows appeared to be colonial era also. The pillows were a joke, a very bad joke. They were extremely flat and worn out from years of use. The edge of the shower was very short and the shower curtain would constantly get on the wrong side and it caused our room to flood badly. I went to get breakfast thinking it was free only to later be asked to pay. I only get ham and eggs and orange juice. The chef/cook later asked me for money. My Spanish is not very good and I had difficulty understanding her so I used my fingers to ask the amount. I thought she said $70 pesos so I motioned with my fingers to try to ask if it was $70 and she says 'yes'. After wading through a flooded room with exposed electrical outlets/wires hanging out of the walls and wondering if the rest of our stay there would be as miserable we finally decided to take it as a hard lessened learned and get out while we still could. We were waiting near the lobby around 1 PM for our taxi, and watching the occasional cockroach scurry across the floor, when we noticed a truck arrive outside and a man start carrying in towels. As we were leaving the receptionist was explaining that he had only had 3 towels for the entire hotel until then and that's when I noticed a sign on the wall that says "desayuno $60". The chef had overcharged me, it was only a small amount so I did not complain and try to get my $10 pesos returned but that should have never happened. When you stay at a hotel you shouldn't have to question if the staff is cheating you out of your money. My wife and our boys could not get out of there fast enough. This was my most recent trip to Mexico out of 12 trips I have taken there. This was definitely our worst experience at a hotel in Mexico. When we arrived there it was still close to the holidays so there was not many hotels that had rooms available or we would have found something better but we had called 5-6 hotels before we found a room. We have a saying here that goes, 'you get what you pay for'. This hotel was inexpensive except for the overpriced breakfast. Dont make the same mistake we did, make reservations far in advance of the holiday season. Dont make the same mistake we did, do not stay at the Hotel Meson de Carolina! If you do, good luck and bring your own towels

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went by for breakfast and no one came to take our order. Two in the front desk on their phones who saw us come in and just blatantly ignored us. Want to say worst service ever but really there was NO service to talk about
