Mex car rental is a scam and should be put out of business. They will do whatever they can to take as much as money possible from you. AVOID THEM BY ALL MEANS !!!!!. I was ripped off by them. I was forced to get a full coverage insurance with the ACE (MEX). On the 2nd Dec. when I wanted to turn on the car, the engine oil light turned on. The car was fine and it was working properly. Just to make sure everything is fine I called the office. They sent a mechanic and the mechanic came and said the car is ok and I have the option either to change it or get a new car. I said I want a new car and he said I could drive to the airport to get a replacement car. I said I want the replacement car in my second hotel that I was going to check in. The mechanic said, I could drive to that hotel (about 20 mins away) and they will bring the replacement car. I drove to my second hotel and another mechanic came by about 1 hrs later. The other mechanic said that I can go to the rental office at the airport and sign the relevant papers to get the replacement car. Once I arrived at the office, they told me that the mechanic has told them there is water inside the engine and it is not covered by the insurance and I have to pay 3000 euro for the damage. I told them that the car was parked in front of my hotel (Real Inn Cancun) and the engine oil lamp just turned on. They told me if I don't pay the 3000 euro they would call police and I would be arrested by the police. I asked my friends who were in the hotel to go to the car which was parked in the hotel and the mechanic was there to check if the car is working. They went and saw that they were towing the car. They stopped the mechanic and took a video from the car which was working fine without any issue. Even the oil engine lamp was off and it was on anymore. But they did not accept and charged me 3000 euro , and I did not have any other choice than paying the amount. I felt very unsafe in their office. This was the worst car rental experience that I had ever had and I would never book with this company. They are just a big scammer.

My rental started on July 18th. The customer service man was courteous and professional. Process was fast and i was given an upgrade at no cost because the car i had reserved was not available.

Keine Sterne! No Stars! Very very bad experience! After a very long trip and 2 hours delay we arrived in Cancun at night. We tried to call mex cars, local people helped to call, Nobody available. SO we took a Taxi to get there. We are arrived with a smile and happy to beginn our first journey in Mexiko, but because of the delay they didn't want to give us a car without an Upgrade of 380 Dollars and 1000 Dollars for insurance. They told us,they have no small car available, but that was not true, because they had the small cars outside. Later he even gave others a small car because he heard that we told them about our Situation, there also came later, with the same plane. This MAN was so unfriendly and ignorant! That was not a nice Start in cancun. Alot of people at the airport told us, they do this with lots of people, or after bringing the car back, alot have Problems. Very very very unprofessionell! Please dont book to have the same experience or Maybe there change !!

Upon returning they told me the car needs a deep cleaning at a cost of $30 USD due to "stains". I asked him to show the stains and he showed me a picture of beach sand. I went to the car, swept the sand off with my hand and showed him it wasn't a stain. He didn't care and still charged me. When I picked up the car there were also problems. Their own website says it includes 3rd party liability insurance, however the agent at the desk said it doesn't include 3rd party insurance. I showed him the screenshot from the website and the email and he said it's included, but not for a sufficient amount by law and forced me to buy the insurance at double the cost of the car. Since it was the busiest time of year I had no choice other than to rent or cancel 2 weeks of hotels. Their machine is somehow rigged to not accept credit cards (see other comments here). My card has worked everywhere else in Mexico except here. I even had the card's fraud department on the line and they said there are no authorizations or any transactions at all reaching their system. I was forced to use a debit card, which they overcharged and that I can't charge back. Fraudulent company. Avoid at all costs!

The usual tourist rip off. Booked a car on the same day, got told there was only a SUV available for roughly double the price. When I refused to take it, we were asked to send over flight and hotel confirmations via email (“for security reasons“). Ultimately, we got given a very old car in our category but had to buy some insurance on top. Otherwise they would have blocked our credit card with 4.000 USD for any potential damages. I am convinced any amounts for insurance etc. are completely made up. Would give 0 stars if possible u *“%&in rats
