La iglesia fue edificada en honor de Nuestra Señora de la Luz. Su fachada es la más formal de las 5 misiones y de gran escalinata de acceso agrega un aire de dignidad y señorío a esta misión. En el primero de los cuerpos, están San Pedro y San Pablo. Ubicados en el segundo cuerpo, encontramos los escudos Franciscanos de los Brazos cruzados y la cruz, y en la gruesa cornisa el nicho ornamental que da nombre a la misión: la imagen de Nuestra Señora de la Luz (ahora destruida o extraviada) y a los costados están las imágenes de San Joaquín y Santa Ana, padres de María. Los misterios de Cristo y María, son representados con ángeles que simbolizan la pasión. En el tercero de sus cuerpos se localiza a Son Roque con su inseparable perro y a la izquierda San Antonio de Padua, ambos de la orden Franciscana, arriba de estos un pasaje de la estigmatización de las llagas de San Francisco.
