The staff doesn’t educate people to be quiet enough. The more quiet the more the butterflies. You pay a toll to drive up but the road is terrible. Little kids harass you to pay for parking. Many food places nagging you to eat. Blue tortillas are good but food is mediocre at Cocina Laura’s and everything in the picture you don’t get

Amazing natural phenomenon. Great thing to see and experience. The reason I gave it only 4 stars is because of the worthless/usless "guides" they alow there, they are sort of a scam, unqualified, kinda dishonest, tell disinformation, and anyway there is only one trail so a visitor cannot get lost at all.

Wonderful place. It is important to be careful and not make noise.

An amazing experience to see all thos Monarchs in one spot. The landscape is most beautifull and the walk through the forest is long, but worth it. And of you are not into walking you can get a horse.

Very good year to go visit, I hired a guide, they don’t charge but take tips. The reserve has restaurants and gift shops plus open area to enjoy nature. The hike is about 30min gradually ascending up the mountains. Per our guide, this November they had twice as many butterflies as the previous year. Also per the guide the more sunlight available the more butterflies are willing to start flying around. There’s a small gathering section to watch them fly but due to the amount of people visiting you can’t stay there all day. Luckily we found a spot off the main section to have a seat and watch over the mountains and butterflies even landed very close. Per the guide the best time of year to visit is January through March. On occasions there’s even snow in the mountains.

We took our 4 kids up to see the Monarch Migration. We enjoyed the horse ride up and back and was able to see the butterflies in all their swarming glory. The bathrooms are 7 pesos and the hit food is delicious after being on the trail. There is a zip line for kids for 100 pesos. We highly recommend going!

A lovely hike in a forest filled with towering trees and blooming flowers. Humming birds and Monarchs loving it. The Monarchs drifting down from the trees was like being in a beautiful dream. Learn the incredible story of these migrating butterflies and be awed by their delicate strength and beauty. Early March and in the early afternoon is a good time to go

A once in a lifetime experience. We stayed in Tlalpujahua and took a taxi in, enjoying the sights the entire way up. The forest is simply beautiful and serene. Once at the reserve we rode a horse to the viewing area. It was early and the butterflies were still clustered together in the trees, but as the sun began to warm them they took flight. Stand still in silence, and they will land in the bushes closer to you for better viewing. As we were leaving we noticed the crowd was growing as many more visitors arrived around noon. We hiked back rather than ride a horse, which allowed us the opportunity to enjoy the view shared in my photos. The horse ride will skip this part.
