Ángel María Garibay K. fue uno de los toluqueños más notables y destacados, huérfano desde sus 5 años, se recibió como sacerdote, aprendió lenguas nativas, fue maestro de muchos académicos, también historiador, escritor, investigador por mencionar parte de su historia. Adolfo López Mateos, nació en Atizapán de Zaragoza, fue abogado y político que se desempeñó como el quincuagésimo tercer presidente de México. También sirvió como bibliotecario, orador, amante del boxeo y practicante asiduo de la caminata en su juventud, Fue profesor y director, entre 1944 y 1946, del lugar donde efectuó su secundaria y el bachillerato (Instituto Científico y Literario Autónomo ICLA, hoy Universidad Autónoma de México, reconocido como uno de sus más grandes aciertos hacia la herencia mexiquense.
Por tal motivo se crea en la ciudad de Toluca el monumento a Los Hombres Ilustres en la capital mexiquense, para conmemorar el nacimiento de la entidad del Estado de México, como un estado libre y soberano que comenzó su historia un 2 de marzo y ser parte de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos.
