Beautiful place to visit after walking around the pyramid in Palenque. It's a small place, so if it's high season I think it would be hard to enjoy a peaceful moment.

Beautiful cool jungle with the occasional signs of man's work showing through.

While we were exploring the big temples in Palenque, we heard locals offering jungle tour to waterfall Motiepa. We did a quick google search and turned out there is a short waking path in the jungle and another cascade waterfall hereby, litteraly on the other side of the main road, opposite of the Palenque ruins. The entrance for the path is a bit hidden located around 100m down the road from the main entrance for the Palenque ruins. You can ask for directions from the security/info guy at the Palenque entrance. We headed that way and we were in the jungle on our own. We saw just two couples , they all had a guide, showing then some palm leaf, smelling and eating some plants. If you are into flora you might want to take a guide. Also there are no signs, the pathway forks in other directions, we were with flip flops and decided not to deviate from the "main" road. The waterfall is maybe 10 min down the path, there is a wooden platform where you can take your pictures. The exit of the path is literary halfway between the two entrances for the Palenque ruins. You can stop a collectivo from there or just walk down to the Palenque museum. This waterfall detour makes a prefect add-on to the Palenque ruins.
