San José Mogote se encuentra ubicado en el valle de Etla en el cual se desarrollo la agricultura gracias a su ubicación privilegiada. Posteriormente se trasladaron a una montaña ubicada en el centro de los tres valles de Oaxaca en la que crearon una de las primeras ciudades-estado del continente llamada por el arqueólogo mexicano Alfonso Caso Monte Albán.
Here we can find one of the first settlements of Mesoamerica. San José Mogote is located in the Etla Valley where agriculture was developed thanks to its privileged location. Later they moved to a mountain located in the center of the three valleys of Oaxaca where they created one of the first city-states of the continent called by the Mexican archaeologist Alfonso Caso Monte Albán.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 1350BC. Not much to see for the "plain tourist" but those with a trained eye will have a filled day. The main pyramid is in the middle of the village. Oldest site in the Oaxaca valley.
