The building itself is impressive, it is huge, but inside the Diego Rivera murals are magnificent and incredible. The courtyard is divided in two by a staircase, on Saturdays and Sundays only the ground floor is allowed to visit. At this moment (February 2022) there is a temporary exhibition "The greatness of Mexico". What really attracts are the murals, they are magnificent. There is a very small permanent exhibit on education in Mexico. Free entrance!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful building, entrance is free. The main attraction are the Diego Rivera murals, which are unbelievably stunning and cover all 3 floors of the interior courtyard. Tracing the Mexican Revolution and embracing Rivera's communist sympathies, they will take your breath away with their power and heart. Of particular note are the several paintings of Zapata, and keep your eye out for Frida handing bayonets to her revolutionary comrades.
Don't get entirely lost in the murals, as the building itself is a masterpiece of late colonial architecture. If visiting in the spring the blooming jacaranda trees surrounding the Juarez statue are of particular note. I should also mention the standout interactive mural display near the entrance, it allows you to zoom in each mural on a HUGE interactive screen, and explains the history and meanings behind the panels as well as insights into Rivera's creation of the paintings in the 1920s.
On a more mundane note, the bathrooms here are clean and airy and open to the public upon entry so this is a great pitstop when in Centro viewing the other attractions.
