The museum is interesting, the heads and other exhibits are located right on the territory. The territory is not big, you can get around in an hour. The pyramid did not impress, just a hill overgrown with shrubs. But we went for the heads, they liked it. There was information on the Internet that the park was open from 8:00, we arrived at the opening, but opened at 9:00, we waited an hour and this spoiled the impression a little. Take repellent, there are a lot of mosquitoes

Most great pieces are not here, but in the Museum of Anthropology of Villahermosa, the state's capital. The highlight is climbing the central structure and having a 360° view of the whole region, with mountains only to the west about 20 km away.

The personnel are super nice and welcome you with all the information, the museum is quite preserved. Nevertheless, the Archeological Zone is a little bit sloopy. I strongly recommend to visit in order to improve the zone (they deserve it), but it is not the best archeological zone in Mexico

Small but wonderful museum and site. Easy to walk. Bring bug spray. Trails are fairly well marked in the forest. You can walk up the backside of the earthen pyramid which at the time was the highest in North America.

We received a tour from a person working in the area for 40 years that made our trip worth it. Almost all the pieces are now copies. The originals are in Parque La Venta in Villahermosa. There is a nice population of oropendula birds in the site. They open at 900 and close at 1630 hrs.
