Had no problems...the car was nice and clean! The process was quick and staff was very nice. They have a shuttle that will take you back to the airport!

I went there after having the worst experience next door with Europcar... Arturo was very pleasant he took care of me immediately, no hiding prices, excellent service, from now on every time I rent a car is from National Car.

National rent a car was the Worst place I have ever rented a car from! We ordered full coverage rental insurance over the internet when we booked the car. When we arrived in Mexico they said we needed additional coverage that was another 250.00 then when we returned the car they said they charged us wrong and would have to pay another 52.00. We had a plane to catch so we had no choice but to pay, so we thought we would straighten it out when we get home. In the end they did nothing for us. I would never rent a car from them again!

Review updated ,....My insurance liability was included with expedia , the did not want rent me the car if I did not buy their insurance!!! that does not happen in America!! go to FOX car rental or Thriffty in MExico city they respect the customers. and their reservations from expedia. Ok I would like to update this review, I tried National again, and now they respect the reservation from expedia, they will try to sale you more, but you can refuse. I recommend you call national a day before of your reservation and ask them if they will respect your reservation.. I will try again this company in a few months.. for now I will up grade to 3 stars

ABSOLUTELY TO AVOID, they will try to fool you! I returned the car and I was charged 1100 pesos (equivalent to ca. 55 Euros, 60 US dollars, 50 GB pounds) for a low-pressure tyre. The employee argued that the tyre was damaged, first by saying that it was punctured, then that it was damaged on the side due to driving with the tire at low pressure. I was never showed the punture. Finally, he chatted with other people and pulled a price out of the blue, even saying that he was giving me a discount..The tire was just slightly on low pressure!! I had purchased 0% excess, full-coverage insurance, but I was told that this type of "damage" is not covered. Reading other reviews here, I found that at least two other people (fabian islas here and Leonid Kostitsyn in the reviews of the actual pick-up point) had exactly the same experience. It makes me wonder if these people have a friend at a tire-repairing business. From some other reviews it also looks like they try to fool you in a variety of ways. I strongly discourage anyone from renting at this National office (or Enterprise, they operate together in the same spot). You wouldn't expect to be fooled like this, but that's basically what you are exposed to. I was tired, alone and out of my country, so I agreed to pay and did not argue enough. I regret not having insisted more. At least I hope that this review will help others to avoid my same mistake. Finally, other negative points: 1) Checking the final receipt at home, I also discovered that the mileage had been largely exaggerated: I used only one tank of petrol, allowing a maximum of ca. 600 Km, but on the receipt they wrote that I had driven almost 3 thousand kilometers. In hindsight, this was obviously to justify the claim that I had ruined the tire by driving on low pressure. 2) The car was quite old (around 5-10 years, I would say) and not in great conditions at all. 3) The pick-up/return office is in a very dodgy area, especially at night.

After arriving at Mexico City Airport, and having problems with Alamo Car Rental, I walked over to National Car Rental and had a great experience. Their service was great and price was better. They gave me the perfect car and had the GPS & Wi-Fi Hotspot service I wanted. Service was fantastic from the moment I met Rhoda at the airport. The shuttle service was waiting for me and took 5 mins to arrive at the National office nearby. Took a long time to get through the admin and required a little effort to get them to commit to the price agreed with Rhoda at the airport but in the end everything was ok. The car was current model year (new) and in excellent conditions. I have read quite a bit of squawking about the insurance process in Mexico but if you just reflect that you are in a foreign country with different rules, then it is absolutely no problem. The cost of local insurance was not bad and I just went with their recommended basic insurance and had no problems and was out the door with a beautiful car. The counter staff at National was very nice and very professional. The drop off service is available 24 hours and again, no problems at all. Based on my experience with National Car Rental at Mexico City Airport, I would recommend them anytime!

Do not rent cars here! In Mexico City. First they asked for extra insurance. They gave us a car with plates from California US. They warned us that the Police May stop The car and ask for money. Due to the plates whe Police stoped the car 2 times in 3 days. With randon arguments asking for money. They see that you are a tourist due to the plates. We lost money due to this. They know this problem about the Police and keep doing this. This was The worst travel experience that i had, Just due to the plates of the car.
