AMAZING food! This place has foods from Mexico, Indonesia and Philippines. Having spent well over a month in each of these countries, I have to say they did a good job. Highly recommend!

Fantastic indonesian cuisine and not expensive at all. The vegetarian options are cheaper than the meat/fish options!

Time for another food review. This time it’s a little Filipino place called Oasis. The location is on the ave 20 side of the Mercado on R Salas. There are many food stalls and or little places to try and this one has always intrigued me. Quite often you see every seat taken by what I assume to be cruise ship employees. Fried fish, different rice bowls, and various other foods that I have no idea what they are are shared family style at long tables that have been pushed together. The smells coming from the kitchen are amazing. Ok the menu. Lol I took a picture and google searched what these meals were. Pictures helped but in the end my mother in law asked the chef if he had the ingredients to make Pancit Canton. How she even knew about this dish is beyond me but I guess that’s what mother in laws are good at....surprises. With a smile he said of course what protein would you like...beef..chicken..shrimp..or pork. We asked for chicken. So, what is Pancit you ask? It’s essentially a glass noodle stir fry that has julienned carrots, green onion, garlic, and soy. It’s basically amazing with nothing basic about it! The restaurant was clean and had an open air feel about it. Newish modern color plastic tables and seats were well laid out. You had the choice of eating ‘inside’ as well by the open air kitchen but it was a little hot with the woks roaring. Oasis was well...a Filipino oasis among your typical Mexican food restaurants and or food stalls. The food. How did it taste? Totally amazing. The amount of food on the platter sized plate that came out was mind boggling. It fed four of us and there are still two servings left that we took home. Giant tender chicken breast pieces, glassy noodles that probably would stretch the length of the transversal if laid end to end, veggie pieces including cauliflower which I didn’t list above were still crunchy and had that wok hei flavor you only get over high heat cooking, and a clean tasting semi oily glazed garlic sauce coated the noodles. I hesitate to even call it a sauce because it wasn’t thick or cloying just an additional layer of flavor. Here’s the best part....190pesos or 10$. I’d say if you are tired of Tortas and tacos this place fits the bill for sure. Judging by the amount of cruise ship workers that come here they must be doing something right and cooking authentic Filipino food. What dish I try next is anyone’s guess but the Pancit noodles were a winner. As always, buen provecho!
