★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We took two tours with Rocio of Oaxaca Experience Tours. We enjoyed our first tour so much that we decided to take a second one. Rocio speaks excellent English and is knowledgeable about the history, native culture and the natural surroundings. She asked us what our interests were and what we wanted to see. Besides the regular “must see sites”, she also suggested some of the “off the beaten track places” like Vives Verde, a wonderful botanical garden which we had never heard of, but turned out to be a great discovery for us. Her knowledge of Oaxaca’s cuisine is truly impressive and she took us to two great restaurants for lunch. If you are looking for a tour of Oaxaca that will make your visit a memorable one, I highly recommend Oaxaca Experience Tours.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had limited time in Oaxaca and wanted to visit both Monte Alban and Hierve El Agua in the same day, requiring a tailored tour. As there were only two of us, the price was higher than a bigger group sharing the costs of a private driver but you certainly got what you paid for. Rocío was excellent - on a very rainy day she drove extremely carefully, all while sharing lots of interesting insights into Oaxaca. She also helped us to accommodate a stop at the Tule Tree when we asked on the day. Would recommend as a reliable and professional company for tours.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The experience was amazing. The driver, Omar, picked us up at our Airbnb. He was professional, friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. He regularly checked in if we needed to stop on the way. We made one stop at an amazing bread and tamale restaurant. Best bread we’ve had yet! He drove very cautiously along the winding mountain road. On the way back he took us to a nearby local restaurant for lunch and it was delicious! He also offered us bottled water and coca cola.
Our local guide was superb. Extremely knowledgeable about the geography and history, friendly, accommodating, helpful, and responsive to our questions and needs.
I highly recommend this company and would use them again for other tours.

He knows so much of the culture and history of the various regions within Oaxaca and readily shared in perfect English. Great communication throughout the process, too. We look forward to taking him up on many of his cultural experience tours when we return to the city! Highly recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We recently booked two excursions with Omar at Oaxaca Experience Tours. The first was a day trip for visiting friends to Dainzú, Mitla, Matalán, Teotitlán del Valle and Tule. Omar drove us himself in their spacious, comfortable minivan. (Masks were worn at all times, of course.) The second was an overnight trip to beautiful Apoala, high in the Mixteca hills. On this occasion our driver/guide was Rocio, who interfaced for us with the local hiking guides, eco-cabin manager and food providers. In both cases, Omar helped us customize the itinerary in advance based on our needs and wishes, while offering many suggestions for ways to enhance our trip. There’s nobody nicer than Omar in all of Oaxaca, and Rocio is a warm, friendly and knowledgeable guide in her own right. Both trips were a complete success from our point of view, and we highly recommend OET to anyone looking for a fun, informative and safe excursion in Oaxaca.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a wonderful experience over the three days we spent touring Oaxaca with them. Rocio and Omar really know Oaxaca and it’s culture and they want you to experience it. An example? While other companies offer you a cooking class with a local chef, we had a wonderful experience cooking with a Zapotec family, it was wonderful! And roaming the local markets and street food with them was an absolute experience! We wholeheartedly recommend them.

We had an extremely thorough city tour that included an overview, walking tour of Jalatlaco, visit to churches and art venues & the incredible markets of B. Juarez and 20 Noviembre where we saw the making of chocolate & the BBQ room full of smoke & roasting meat & feasting families. Unforgettable. Our second tour included Monte Alban, gardens and a restaurant that aspired to serving every dish from Oaxaca. Our third tour went to a mezcal palenque to see the growing of rare agaves and learn the production of mezcal, plus a tasting. Stopped for artisan ice cream on the way back. The guides loved sharing their expertise on Oaxacan culture. They were also able to flex to our specific interests. We would not have experienced this much richness and depth on our own.

So friendly and easy to talk to, with excellent English and an in-depth knowledge of Oaxaca's rich culture, history and cuisine.
