Occidental at Xcaret Destination - 77710 Playa del Carmen

We really enjoyed our stay. All the staff we interacted with were great and super friendly. The resort is quiet and well cared for. Our dinners were spectacular but the lunch and breakfast buffets were average. I’d like to specifically say a few staff were amazing. Aldo, Brenda, and Angel at the Sports Bar were so great and made some of the best drinks ever. Great to talk to and really helped you find the right drinks for you. Selena the poor server is a gem and was great. Pavel and Frederico in our building were very helpful and fun.

Place is very beautiful! I liked that they built the resort around the jungle and left some of the vegetation intact within the resort. If felt really calming. Staff was super nice and helpful. The only thing that I did not like was the food. I read reviews stating that the food was not good, but even then I decided to give this resort a try. Unfortunately, I will not be staying here again due to the food being so bland and not to my liking. Mexicos food is delicious, I would have expected better food at this resort.

We stayed here for 7 days and will be back again! Rigoberto served us most nights at Pacos Tacos and gave excellent service! He made our stay that more enjoyable. The pools and entire property is great, the bars awesome, the Italian restaurant and Mexican food night at the buffet were the best. For breakfast we went to the beach buffet all week. Michael Jackson show was the best. Great service, great people, always smiling and trying to help. They make sure you always have a drink in your hand ? Make sure to always tip your bar tenders and servers.

Everything and everyone at the resort was absolutely amazing! I can't say enough great things about this place. As a family traveling with two children, this has been the perfect place for vacation. The resort is big enough that it never feels crowded. Pools were big and beautiful. Beach area is awesome. Food, while not the best ever, is good. Seriously, from start to finish, I have been nothing but pleased.

If you come here expecting top tier food, you'll be disappointed. We had several maintenance issues that were addressed immediately. The food is good and the wait staff are typically quick to provide service and a smile. The grounds are magnificent. The beaches offer a bit of everything for everyone. We stayed for two weeks and loved it. Susana in the first club worked miracles for us. The massage staff were super. My relaxation massage left me feeling like a plate of warm jello.

This is a beautiful resort with beautiful people who work here. My family has visited here three times and have had wonderful stays each time. This one in particular we loved how clean everything was, the food was amazing, and the service was out of this world. Specifically, Rigoberto did an outstanding job. He remembered us from 6 years ago which was important to my parents. Not only that but he provided amazing service during our seafood dinner and was truly genuine to us. He is one of the reasons, as well as other great staff that took care of us, that we will come back.

This place was gorgeous! It is so lush and green. There are friendly animals everywhere. It was like a little paradise! The service is was good across the board. -Accommodated my gluten allergy. If a true allergy let the guest services know and they will give you a printout to bring when you eat for the staff. -Good drinks and good liquor choice. The food wasn’t anything special but it was good quality for the price and great value overall. Try the octopus it’s so fresh. If your used to a nice thick steak just skip the steak house. -They did have loud music but it wasn’t everywhere so you could escape to a semi quiet place to actually relax. You can walk to Xcaret which I highly recommend. -Skip the timeshare presentation if you want to get the discounted promos they offer. We spent the entire morning and didn’t even get the discount on tickets we were promised. My bad I guess for not arguing with the guy but I was in a rush to get to the park that day.

This place has a large property full of all its natural surroundings with live animals. Their rooms are great food is improving and unfortunately customer service has gone down since my last visiting 2019. Due to New Management there has been a few changes hopefully they continue to get better service because this is one of my favorite resorts. They have a private Beach area that is amazing especially with family with kids. Third drinks are very decent but not consistent through the resort. High dining restaurants don't open on an everyday and sometimes you're not even aware while you're making a line for them. Although it's an all-inclusive their room service is not included in their amenities they do charge and you only give around four beers every other day stopped into your many refrigerator. Overall I will continue to stay there I love the atmosphere and their natural surroundings.
