OkJosé! Restaurante Bar - 48380 Puerto Vallarta

OkJose is an awesome restaurant! The staff was super friendly, the atmosphere is beautiful, and the food is delicious. I recommend getting the caesar salad which they make for you right at the table. I am definitely coming back!

The most amazing recommendation from New friends met at where were staying! The location is unassuming, however once you get to the top of the stairs you are welcomed in a wicked space of textures and character. The staff are attentive yet not at all intrusive. The tortilla soup was heaven; the margaritas were flavourful and the strength of a true Mexican marg; the stuffed pablano pepper dish was to die for; then the flaming banana dessert topped the experience. If ever in PVR, it is a MUST - you will regret it!

The food was good, and the staff was courteous and professional though slow. The rest is where things went sour. The music was entirely too loud, and he appeared completely drunk. This increased throughout the evening as he apparently became more intoxicated. The continual flow of tequila did not help either. He was screaming more than singing which made it impossible to converse with friends and family, until he would go on break which did not happen often enough. If we want a show there are myriad options for cabarets in Puerto Vallarta; we came to this restaurant to eat; music should be an accompaniment to enrich the experience, not overwhelm and overpower. They were understaffed which caused delays and inconsistences with meals Orders were shuffled, items forgot, and it was difficult for the waiter to attend the table’s needs; very disorganized. The music only complicated the dining experience with the inability to hear anyone trying to communicate. The owner seemed more concerned with schmoozing than ensuring his team was equipped to attend to his customers. We asked for the sound to be turned down, which he seemed dismissive, and later in the evening made a slight adjustment. He did provide a dessert drink to each in our group, however a focus on service would have been more appreciated. The bathrooms were dirty, out of paper towels, and neither toilet seat would stay up, which is challenging. The restaurant has potential, and definitely lacks in providing a gourmet dining experience. Either be a bar or fine dining, you cannot accomplish both with that loud music.

Must-dine when in PVR !! We enjoyed live music, cocktails, soup, appetizers, mains, and desert flambé. All of it exceptional. Really can't say enough good things about this dining experience. Thanks to everyone at OK José!

The food was amazing, drinks were interesting and well made, and the live entertainment (flamenco guitarists) was really good! José and his staff made us feel very welcomed and took good care of us. We would absolutely go back for another night of food and fun!

The food and staff were amazing. We went for a friend's birthday and they were great. Highly recommended.

Beautiful restaurant. OMG the food was good. Wonderful ambiance and great service. They have fabulous music on Friday night. Even the owner Jose sings and he is excellent. Stellar guitarist too. Can’t be beat for a wonderful night in Puerto Vallarta.

Superb!! Lovely atmosphere, great service, delicious food. Mexican cuisine with international dishes too. Not cheap, but not overly expensive. Good value, imho. Loved my stuffed chicken breast. Vegetarian tower and enchiladas also good. Yummy tortilla soup. The table side Caesar salad, banana flambé or special coffees provide some entertainment. Talented live music on busy nights. Make a reservation. It is on a rooftop with part open air so good for a Covid time restaurant. We’ll be back!!!
