El origen del nombre se debe a un equipo de básquetbol llamado "Quinta Omega", en el cual como integrantes estaban Manuel Lajud, Ignacio Segna, Fernando López Arias, entre otros; este último llegaría a ser gobernador de Veracruz. Se ubica en la calle Cayetano Rodríguez Beltrán, en Xalapa, Veracruz.
