The Paisaje Biocultural Office is the home of a project to create a new national park model for Mexico based on the French Regional Park model. This is the headquarters for a 244,946 hectares area that covers parts of 4 municipal areas of Mascota, San Sebastian del Oeste, Talpa de Allende, and Atenguillo. The project and soon to be natural area is working to protect biodiversity and cultural values of the region. There are workshops on using organic fertilizers and pesticides to help improve soil quality. Ecotourism, coffee, cheese, preserves and sweets, sustainable forest products are among the products that are part of this project. To visit, come to any one of the communities. Bring your bike, horse or walking stick. Plan to enjoy the beautiful views and climate. Don't forget to take your trash out.
The Biocultural Landscape Office is the home of a project to create a new national park model for Mexico based on the French Regional Park model. Bring your bike, horse or walking stick. Plan to enjoy the beautiful views and climate. Don't forget to take your trash out. What is the Biocultural Landscape? This region is the scene of a balance between the use of rural towns and their surroundings. Sign shown between plateaus, plains and mountains mixed with agriculture, livestock, forestry. In addition, the life, traditions and customs that have been inherited, give an account of the history that occurred in numerous places in this mountain range. A lifestyle so characteristic that it is possible to distinguish it from the rest of the country. Despite this potential, there are pressures that threaten the delicate balance: the advancement of industrial agriculture and extensive livestock over forests, loss of knowledge and transformation of traditions, migration and abandonment of youth are the most obvious. Therefore, in the municipalities of Atenguillo, Mascota, San Sebastián del Oeste and Talpa de Allende, a model for the use and conservation of nature and cultural recognition is constructed in a participatory manner. In a territory that shares its own landscape and identity: The Biocultural Landscape. In this Biocultural Landscape, the idea of agreeing with the use of territories, including all inhabitants, of making it voluntary, is the belief to promote economic development where the protection and valuation of nature and local culture go from hand. The Cultural Landscape initiative is based on the French model of the Regional Natural Parks. This model recognizes local heritage, culture and natural assets that locally represent the identity of a region. In addition, it promotes the protection and responsible use of natural assets.
