Se localiza en la Región del Istmo de Tehuantepec al sureste del estado, en las coordenadas 95º12' longitud oeste y 16º35' latitud norte, a una altura de 110 metros sobre el nivel del mar.
Limita al norte con el municipio de Santa María Guienagati, al sur con el municipio de Magdalena Tlacotepec, al oriente con el municipio Jalapa del Marqués, al poniente con el municipio de Santo Domingo Chihuitán.
Laollaga comes from Lahuiyaga which means: "In the middle of the grove", Lahui etymology: "in the middle, between", Yaga "stick or tree".
It is located in the Tehuantepec Isthmus Region in the southeast of the state, at coordinates 95º12' west longitude and 16º35' north latitude, at a height of 110 meters above sea level.
It limits to the north with the municipality of Santa María Guienagati, to the south with the municipality of Magdalena Tlacotepec, to the east with the municipality of Jalapa del Marqués, and to the west with the municipality of Santo Domingo Chihuitán.
