★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a really lovely time here for our work retreat! It's a wonderful blend of rustic and comforts and a great way to authentically experience the Yucatan and Riviera Maya. The staff was very warm and welcoming, the grounds were stunning and full of natural beauty, and the pool and cenote were a dream!
I highly recommend this location for anyone with a large group, you really can't go wrong.
The housekeeper was STELLAR and the rest of the staff did an amazing job keeping things cleaned and stocked.
A few things to note, just so it's not a surprise:
- You are in the jungle, there are bugs, birds, critters, and plant life, all of it is probably different than you are used to, just be mindful and cautious.
- Wear shoes, scorpions are a thing, and you don't want to step on one
- The houses have an open kitchen/lounge area (common for Mexico), the fans and cross breeze make it VERY comfy, but the rooms have A/C in case you want it.
- Hot water can be inconsistent, I have experienced this EVERY time I have been to Mexico (resorts, homes, etc). The team fixed our issue immediately, we just asked and it was resolved in an hour!
- The road to the property is rough (dirt road, potholes). You can make it work with a sedan or minivan, but SUVs are more comfortable.
- There are a plethora of bats in the Cenote, they fly around at night (sometimes in the day) - they are ADORABLE and eat mosquitos, so they are a welcome guest in my book.
- There are other rental homes in the same area as the resort, don't be surprised if you see or hear others - or if they wander by the pool. It was surprising, but not an issue.
- The team sometimes gives tours to other groups looking into retreats and stays, they were very respectful not to take these groups into the rooms, but just know it might happen.
- Keep in mind that towels are replaced every few days (more environmentally friendly)
- As in much of Riviera Maya (outside of resorts) bathrooms request you place toilet paper in the waste bin instead of the toilets. This us due to sensitive plumbing. I promise these are cleaned and emptied frequently and not as much trouble as you think.
