La respuesta que da la Biblia La palabra griega que en la Biblia se traduce “resurrección” es anástasis, que se define como la “acción de ponerse de pie (levantarse) de nuevo”. Cuando se resucita a una persona, es como si se la levantara; se le devuelve a la vida con la personalidad que tenía antes de morir (1 Corintios 15:12, 13). La palabra resurrección no se puede hallar en el Antiguo Testamento, o mejor dicho, las Escrituras Hebreas. Sin embargo, en esta parte de la Biblia sí se habla de la esperanza de la resurrección. Por ejemplo, mediante el profeta Oseas, Dios prometió: “De la mano del Seol los redimiré; de la muerte los recobraré” (Oseas 13:14; Job 14:13-15; Isaías 26:19; Daniel 12:2, 13). ¿Dónde resucitarían los muertos? Algunas personas resucitan en el cielo para ser reyes junto con Cristo (2 Corintios 5:1; Revelación [Apocalipsis] 5:9, 10). La Biblia dice que esta es “la primera resurrección”, o “la resurrección más temprana” (Revelación 20:6; Filipenses 3:11). Ambas expresiones indican que hay otra resurrección, una segunda. La Biblia enseña que en la Tierra “va a haber resurrección así de justos como de injustos” (Hechos 24:15). Entre los justos estarán hombres y mujeres fieles como Noé, Abrahán y Sara (Génesis 6:9; Hebreos 11:11; Santiago 2:21). Y entre los injustos se incluirá a las personas que nunca tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer y obedecer las normas divinas.
