Parador San Agustín - 68000 Oaxaca City

Nice and enjoyable place to stay if you want to be close to Oaxaca Historic Downtown.

If you have children or a baby, these people are not gracious or friendly. At least they weren’t to us. They acted like police instead of hosts. Which was sad because we always have very friendly and nice experiences in the state of Oaxaca. The overall environment was dark and unfriendly from the staff. Rooms were clean. But we rented the suite to have more space and sleep better... and the night manager was running up and down a spiral staircase at 11:45pm, 12am or middle of the night running a machine upstairs. The day manager was helpful. The night manager, less friendly and being very disrespectful and disruptive to guests who might be sleeping. Opening a squeaking metal gate to the upstairs in the middle of the night on all three nights we stayed in that suite, is just not considerate to guests. As well as pounding up the metal stairs too. No effort on his part to be more quiet in the middle of the night. Compared to the rest of Oaxaca, living here and knowing the gracious culture of Oaxaca — it was very upsetting to stay in a place where the true friendly, loving and gracious culture did not exist. There are hundreds of other hotels and Airbnb’s in Oaxaca. That’s what I would recommend. Not this place.

Good value. Good location. Available parking spaces near the entrance are few but they have a reserved space directly in front of the hotel entrance making it easy to unload your luggage. The very helpful and friendly staff will help bring your luggage inside to your room. The buildings in the area are very old and do not have parking. They offer free secure parking available but it is a couple of blocks away which was not a problem at all. Very good breakfast. Definitely recommend.

Great location near the center of town. Breakfast was always delicious. Loved the staff! Downside, no air-conditioning and two flights of stairs. A little noisy at night if your room faces the street.

Our room had no ventilation whatsoever, we couldn’t sleep at night because of the heat. We asked the manager if there were any rooms with windows available and he said that they were all in maintenance. We definitely don’t recommend this place. Oaxaca is a beautiful town with lovely people but this place does not reflect that at all.

Arriving at this hotel, we hoped to find an authentic 4 * hotel, but we failed. Photos of the hotel posted in the Internet are very SUCCESSFUL. The reality is completely different. The courtyard of the hotel is dusty, on uneven concrete, very gloomy, not at all like in the photo. We took rooms with a view of the courtyard - they were shuttered, draped, and we did not even try to open them. In the room there is very stuffy, musty air, no daylight. The old door from the room closes with difficulty, it seems that one push on it - and it will fall apart. The hotel serves a good breakfast (on tables in the courtyard). The location of the hotel is right in the center. The car park used by the hotel is indeed free for guests, but it is about 7 minutes walk from the hotel.

Amazing location, only 1 block from the downtown. Good breakfast from 8 am - 12 pm. Staff very attentive. Rooms are a little small but really neat. No AC, just fans in our room, we open the window and was ok, in the morning a little bit noisy because we were close to the restaurant/courtyard. In summary it's a good place for get some rest and breakfast and then go for a walk or tour.
