The Maya ruins are definitely a blast! Do not miss this impressive piece of Mexican culture :) But: There are unfortunately extremely many souvenir sellers here, some of whom cloud your view with their tshirts, wooden masks and the like.

Just wow. Will be studying up on what our tour guide told us. Was an amazing experience. One tip though! Don’t go in the dead middle of summer! Too hot on the tour bus!

Incredible experience in many ways, the amazing pyramids and the great many questions they raise of course but also the local history and the generally enjoyable outing itself. Be sure to bring extra water and snacks with you.

Went here on my honeymoon May 19 1990, it is amazing got a tour guide that was very knowledgeable about this site and the Maya in general. It was very hot and humid in May couldn't imagine what it would be like in August. The history here is amazing we went to the top of the pyramid then but not sure your allowed to anymore. Went to the top of the temple of the warriors and sat on the alter of sacrifice where many men had their heads cut off. There is a large ball field where teams put a ball through a hoop, I believe was called temple of the Jaguars. This may be one of the most exciting and important archeological sites in all of North America. Not to be missed, approximately 80 miles from Cancun ~ took tour bus that was full, came back at night, was an amazing adventure, highly recommend.

Overpriced but well worth the visit. Go early or you’ll feel like you’re in a theme park with a long line just to get in after buying your tickets. Another reason to go early is because once the parking lot gets full it gets closed off and you’ll need park in the lots on the main road…leaving you with a long walk. The pyramid itself is impressive and there’s many vendors that sell things that they make by hand and paint with actual flowers and plants. It was demonstrated to us by a man carving one of his pieces.
