★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The natural area is beautiful, but everything else is poorly organised. The most important thing is that they are closed on Mondays, but it's not (clearly) stated anywhere. The toilets are the worst I've seen so far in Mexico (after a month of traveling).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place to visit. I advise going with a guide. I got mine on Airbnb experiences. They picked me up from Mexico city and drove us down. Look on trip advisor or Airbnb experiences and book through there. They now the ins and outs of the place. If you go, dress warm and bring boots. The mountain is eroded hard to place your feet sometimes. Do research on paths as there are several.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Parking at venados is 50 pesos. My main interest was to hike up Pico del Fraile and then traverse to get to Pico del Aguile and then head down to the place where the small trucks drop people off and complete the loop. The area is very picturesque. The view of the lakes from above is fantastic. Lot of guided hikes to Pico del Fraile. During the traverse to Pico de Aguile and beyond, I saw nobody. The traverse is straight forward. There is a use path all along and quite brainless. This is of course assuming one is not afraid of heights and exposures.
