★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the best zoo ever! Very beautiful terrain and the animals look happy and healthy with lots of room to roam and socialize! We took a ride on the catamaran after walking through and I'm so glad we did. The monkeys have there own island, (no cages!) How brilliant is that? There was no admission charge for anything either! Merida really has it going on, what a wonderful city!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We arrived a bit late in the day (approximately an hour before closing), but still had enough time to complete a lap of the park.
First obvious plus: it’s free! (although in our case the cost-savings were slightly undercut by the cab ride to and from the city centre).
As for the park itself, it’s a small but nice zoo with a good variety of animals that live in decently sized enclosures.
If you have some time to spare during your visit to Merida, this place is surely worth a visit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Free experience makes it certainly with the trip. Wander thru the park and see many animals. Our favorite area was the reptile cages with all the turtles. Maybe a 1/2-1 mile loop all on pavement. Snacks and drinks are available.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We adore this zoo. The very well cared for animals roam free, while the humans are behind the fences. All the plains animals are free to interact with each other, and seem very comfortable and well fed.
