Campeche's main cathedral was beautiful and impressive, overlooking the pleasant central plaza and park. I visited Campeche’s cathedral on numerous occasions during my two day stay in the city in the fall of 2015. The Catedral de Nuestra Senora de la Purisima Concepcion is located on Calle 55 between Calles 8 and 10. The cathedral was a huge and impressive building with beautiful architecture. In the evening and nighttime, the cathedral was lit up beautifully. I got an amazing view of the cathedral in the evening from the restaurant Casa Vieja de los Arcos, which had seating on the balcony of an historic building overlooking the central plaza and cathedral. The cathedral overlooks Campeche’s central plaza. The park and plaza was small, pleasant and quiet during the day. It was surrounded on all sides by well-maintained colourful historic buildings. There were lots of beautiful shade trees and plants, as well as seating throughout the park’s pathways. I enjoyed resting and relaxing in the peaceful and calm atmosphere here. The park seemed to be the perfect gathering/meeting place for the locals to hang out and chat with each other. I recommend checking out the cathedral and the plaza when you are in Campeche!

Wonderful service. The priest noticed we were visitors and asked where we were from and made a welcome announcement. The congregation clapped. It's a popular church.

This is the cathedral in Campeche's walled city. It is simple yet elegant and very beautiful. It is a great place to enjoy some peace and quite, and reflection. Well worth seeing both durning the day and at night!!!

Nice cathedral, free entry and a little museum inside with religious stuff for 10 pesos. Didn’t enter the museum but it looked nice from the outside. Being from Europe, Mexican churches always seem a bit poor in comparison to me, but this one is one of the nicest I’ve seen so far. Beautiful also during the night, though closed, of course.

A handsome looking catholic church but one that does not stand out in any way from the myriad of other churches reviewed on this site. Single nave, barrel vault structure is whitewashed both inside and out with the exception of the facade which is stone and fairly straightforward. The interior is very simple and fairly small. the church is a must-see in Campeche, but in any European city, this church would be a tertiary option for a traveler.

Beautiful church from the outside. We have a donation to go in. There’s a courtyard to the side which was really nice. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the city. But wouldn’t travel JUST for the church as there are some much more beautiful than these in the Yucatán / other parts of Mexico.
