Fray Jacobo Daciano, en 1548 fundó está ciudad y empezaron los cimientos de esta parroquia, fundada cerca de la laguna de Zacapu.
Es un templo de construcción de cantera de una sola nave su techo del interior es envigado, sus altares son de estilo neogótico, de fachada bonita y sencilla.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Aunque no he podido entrar, solo conozco la parroquia por fuera (por dentro sólo por foto) y es muy bonita, su atrio inspira tranquilidad y como los atrios de todas las iglesias sientes el abrazo de Dios que te acoge... Pues bien... Mi sorpresa es que fui y vi a un sacerdote haciendo lo que no había visto a otros haciendo... Realmente una pastoral urbana... Bendiciendo a los coches que pasaban frente a la parroquia... La gente muy emocionada pasaba y recibían la bendición junto con la aspersión de agua bendita, no sé cómo se llame el padre pero si alguien lo conoce denle mis felicitaciones... Necesitamos sacerdotes que no tengan miedo de usar su sotana en público ni de bendecir en la calle. Muy bien padre!

We need priests who are not afraid to wear their cassocks in public or to bless in the street. Very good father!
