La necesidad de edificar un templo con mayores proporciones se hizo presente entrado ya el siglo XIX. Arrancó la construcción en 1835, techándolo con madera en primera instancia. Posteriormente, de 1867 a 1870 se construye una bóveda de cañón y se erige el gran torreón de influencias góticas al frente de la portada, sobre el acceso principal.
En 1908, se reconstruye el templo. Se amplía el área presbiterial, se hace la cúpula, un nuevo altar de corte neoclásico y se refuerzan los muros para recibir bóvedas de arista.
Desde entonces, es este edificio el gran ícono del pueblo y uno de los pocos ejemplares de torre campanario al centro que se construyen en la Región.

The need to build a temple with greater proportions became present well into the 19th century. Construction started in 1835, roofing it with wood in the first instance. Later, from 1867 to 1870, a barrel vault was built and the great tower with Gothic influences was erected in front of the portal, over the main access.
In 1908, the temple was rebuilt. The presbyterial area is expanded, the dome is built, a new neoclassical altar is built and the walls are reinforced to receive groin vaults.
Since then, this building has been the great icon of the town and one of the few examples of the bell tower in the center to be built in the Region.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Un lugar muy bonito, la iglesia está lindísima y muy bien restaurada, kiosko y jardín súper relajante sentarse y disfrutar la tranquilidad con un cono de helado de las paletería Michoacana, si vienes te recomiendo compres los clásicos huevos con confeti ( para aventar o hacer bromas) así como lo que venden localmente, ayudas a las familias.
A very nice place, the church is beautiful and very well restored, kiosk and super relaxing garden sit down and enjoy the tranquility with an ice cream cone from the Michoacana paletería, if you come I recommend you buy the classic eggs with confetti (to throw or make jokes ) as well as what they sell locally, you help families.
