También se caracteriza por su pintura mural, que es de las más tempranas en ejecutarse en América Latina. Historia del Museo Tres tormentas provocaron que las aguas del lago de Texcoco y de la presa del Rey se desbordaran e inundaran el templo, dos de ellas en el siglo XVII y una más en el siglo XVIII, cuando el primer piso quedó cubierto de agua y lodo. Así, a comienzos del siglo XIX el conjunto conventual se hallaba bajo el lodo. La parroquia tiene una historia enorme que contar, más sin embargo se nota cierto abandono y con trabajos de restauración mal ejecutados que afectan su valor histórico y patrimonial.
