Well this store front doesn’t even exist and this was the only address/number I got so I never even had a chance to get the car I rented

This Payless franchise (run by a 'manager' by the name of Elios) will make you 'pay' in other ways... Like taking the time to tow and return your broken-down rental car. Like being treated rudely. Like giving you a beater that then has no gas in the tank. Please rent elsewhere.

Do not rent a car from here, they scammed us. Last minute at the drop off they told is that we didn't pay for the extra days of our rental, when in fact we went in to their office and paid them the money. Jokers

Whatever you do, do not rent from this place! They have two locations in the town center and by all the other car rentals on the outside of the town. Sure, it's cheap but they are so sneaky and try to get money out of you no matter what. 1) They told us they would pick us from our hotel the day of our rental, it never happened and they claimed there was no reservation. 2) They didn't have the car we wanted and made us wait for 2 hours. 3) They then rushed us (and we were rushing too) to do the paperwork and car inspection, claiming they marked all of the scratches and dents of their already beat up car (we should have carefully checked but we were already 2 hours late. 4) We go get gas right away to find that the gas cap was missing. We return to the location and they literally had a bucket of gas caps (the do this all they time then charge you for it). 5) We return the car and it's taking a very long time for them to print our final papers, or so they tell us. The guy leaves the office to use his phone across the street and 10 minutes later another guy shows up and starts asking "what did you do to the car?" (meanwhile the first guy said everything was fine but their system was slow). 5) Immediately I get the cops involved and infront of the cops we show them that their $500 damage was really just dust on the already beat up car. They wouldn't back down trying to get us to pay for nothing. My husband even buffed the "damage" with his hand and it was obvious there was nothing there. I told them to charge my card but I would be reporting fraud to my bank so they calmed down. My husband was too nice and said "to end this I will go and buy the buffing cream and buff that "damage" myself" They agreed, said they would go buy the cream and allow him to "fix it." He gave them $50 pesos and of course 30 minutes later, when we returned to buff the car, they were saying it was all ok and we were all settled. Save yourself from this place!

They stole 5,000 pesos (around 300usd) that were used as a "warranty" and was not supposed to be charged unless something happened to the car, but they did charge it and never gave it back even tho the car was returned safe and sound. been fighting with them and the banks for a few months just to be told that the money is lost and no one knows who's got it now. never ever trusting this shitty company again

This place doesn’t even exist on address provided- also number is out of service. I finally found them when I was searching for another car rental place and as the very rude gentleman by the name of Fernando straight said I don’t have any economic cars I saw the sign on the side door underneath budget car rental. My thinking is that budget car rental owns Payless car rental since the same man didn’t give me a clear answer when I asked! Rude. Anywho don’t go here don’t put in your information, it’s a scam!

beware that rent a car is fraud! I rented a car for a week, they asked for a deposit under warranty. I returned the car without damage but the deposit was not repaid. I called both my bank and Visa but they both told me that it is a system that uses this rent a car to cheat people. Money is blocked, even though they have issued a "canceled" receipt. Today after a month, I went to rent a car and in a very voracious way their clerk told me it was not their fault, giving me dishonest. I called the central Cancun office who told me it was a mistake from who took my paper but they can not do anything. I called up Visa explaining everything, but the call center told me that only rent a car can unlock the deposit.

My wife and I have rented a car from Payless Tulum for up to a one month period. We have always found them to be very friendly and they have always treated us nice. We on the advice of a local (Canadian) friend have always dealt directly with the Manager Tadeo. He has always given us a great deal on the car rental as well he always lets us drop the car off in Cancun on our return home at no extra cost. Since we always take numerous pictures of the car the day we pick it up, dropping it off goes very smoothly as previous damage to the car could be proven. We will without hesitation rent from Tadeo again. Thank you Tadeo for always giving Heidi and I such GREAT SERVICE!!
