Had no problems here. Got out of the car to see the counter reset to 0, counted the cash in front of the guy, tipped, done.

Wish I read the reviews. Got the ole 500 switched to a 50 bill without me noticing. I thought I had been derping it but recounted my money later to confirm. First stop in Tulum, what a great lesson right away lol..

Like others we were also the victim of an attempted scam here by the gas attendants. Gave them 500 pesos to fill up with regular gasoline. As soon as I give him the 500 pesos he whips out a 50 pesos bill and asks if I want to fill it up with 50 pesos worth of gas. I angrily pointed to his other 'out of sight' hand with my 500 pesos bill and told him to fill it up with that. He relented and started the pump. There was even a cop standing next to him which might have helped him relent but unsure as the attendant tried to do the scam in his proximity. I was checking to see the fuel counter on the pump started with 0 (another scam where they just continue it from the previous customers fuel count). The cop saw this as he was standing next to our car and confirmed the counter started at 0. So, even they are very aware of this. Moral of the story, don't give cash until you have filled it up. Check the counter starts at 0 on the pump. Be forceful and shout if they try to scam you you stand a good chance they will back down.

Go mart is my favorite convenience stores in Mexico. They have the most options for food. My favorite one was near Playa Delfine Cancun.

Claimed they only took cash (obviously to try the scam on us everyone else here talks about) despite someone next to use paying by card! Rolled back around to another attendant who took the card after I pointed out one of the large signs asking tourists to report the gas station if they refused card. When filling up in Mexico always get out of the car and make sure the pump reads zero before filling up. Only hand over cash or card once filled up and make sure you count out the notes and hand over clearly to the attendant so they cannot switch them on you; or keep your card in sight and check the receipt if paying by card, so they don’t swipe it twice. Keep on your toes and you’ll be all good!

We DID NOT get scammed here. The service was great. We pulled up, said we wanted 400 pesos worth of gas, the attendant typed in that amount into the pump, and started pumping. After it was finished we gave her the 400 pesos and that's it. No scams, no problems. They also have big red signs at each pump saying that if you are not happy with the service for any reason (like being scammed) you should call the number listed on the sign.

Watch out don’t pay large money. Fueled my bike on 80 pesos, gave him 500 pesos, he returned just 20 pesos. Bad gas station!!!

Scam - avoid Pemex. You will be surrounded by 3 men. One will chat with you in a friendly way so your guard is down. If you pay by credit card, they will pretend it didn't go through. Then they will demand cash. When you get home, you'll find your card was charged. Chase Bank was no help with this; they denied my claim despite having 3 witnesses. Spoke to a girl at the airport. This happened to her 4 times.
