This hotel, situated high above Ajiijic--yet easily reachable from both the center and the sprawling outskirts of the city--is a true gem. Lush with acres of greenery, tropical flowers and a pool, it offers "rooms" which are really casitas--bed, bath, kitchen and dining area, and in some cases a covered patio/sitting room. Don't expect fancy-schmancy gilt and obsequious service; do be welcomed by charming rustic interiors, spotlessly clean, and your knowledgeable and charming hosts, Jan and Tom. Pet-friendly and *extremely* reasonable rates. Book early!

Funky, rustico, dog friendly, apt. type or kitchette hotel. Great views, nice grounds, with a dog run just minutes from Lake Chapala. Some residents stay for months, some for just a few days. You will get to meet an assortment of people from expats that come yearly to families that come from Guadalajara for a weekend getaway.

A rustic Mexican hotel run by some caring people. It's not a five star resort, but the pretty grounds and hospitality add two stars. A good place for someone who wants to stay a few weeks to check out the area.

This hotel is quaint and has a nice pool and garden areas for sitting, and the price is good. However, the rooms are drafty and humid and they are pet friendly. Dogs can bark all day and night and nothing is done about it. You need to buy water for your room and pay to have it delivered. You have to pay for the maid service and to do laundry. The beds are small and well used. It is definitely not handicapped friendly as you have to walk up hills to get to your rooms. Scorpions, cockroaches, spiders etc., have all appeared in our rooms. Just be aware of what you are getting for the price.

My parents stayed here about a week ago.. The rooms were completely filthy. The beds had holes in them, the blankets dirty and reaked of musk, and pee. The windows were broken and were unable to be closed. The front desk is in a random room that is literally falling apart. They barely saw the women in charge, so nothing could be done about the rooms.. needless to say we give this hotel a negative 100. Please don't waste your time or money here. It should be called a hostel, not a hotel. Unsure how people stay here.

Beautiful venue but cabin number 7 has a severe mold infestation. I was very ill and we had to move. This place should be categorized as one up from glamming.

Looking for a dog friendly place to stay? We wanted a place for our dogs {two allowed} and found a wonderful place with a dog run so they can be off lease. Our dogs love their outings to their park. The dogs love it so much we decided to stay permanently. Great energy and beautiful people are included.

Beautiful lush green views of the mountains and Lake Chapala. Staff is very accommodating. It is quiet and peaceful. It is gated and safe. Several people live here. It is great for retired people and seniors. The guests are friendly and helpful.
