great rooftop patio views. food was also good (and pretty). staff was nice and friendly. love the ceviche verde, octopus tacos, and the beets salad. fish was soft. fresh and flavorful. the tortillas and salsas were good snacks too. love it here. too bad they didn’t have the tripe taco with bone marrow anymore, though.

Stopped by the patio for a quick snack and a couple of drinks. The service was excellent, the food and drinks delicious, and the view was spectacular! The zucchini wrapped mushrooms with squash blossoms was devine! The beet salad with ground peanut sauce and yogurt ice cream was also amazing! Healthy and delicious!

Overrated. People keep talking about the view for a good reason...because the food is terrible. We came for the food and left very disappointed. Not only is the service slow and unaccomodating, but the food is just plain bad. The pork was overcooked and the server said that was intentional...what? This was our second time visiting because we wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but they were worse the second time. Also, make sure to check your bill because they charged us for an extra plate that we never got. To add insult to injury, the server tried to give us a guilt trip and asked us to pay it anyway because otherwise he would have to pay for it out of his own pocket. Ridiculous. Avoid this place. So many other options with the same view, but better service and exceptional food.

I came here on a Saturday at 5pm. It was pretty easy getting a reservation and quite nice to dine with a rooftop view and the sounds of the city playing below. I was on an all-day food crawl so by the time I had arrived at Pitiona I was ready for something quick and simple. I had a very refreshing passion fruit agua fresca and the coco miel dessert. I'm looking forward to another visit and more of a sit down meal on the next go.

TOURIST TRAP, stay away and go eat real Oaxacan food!!! Service is very slow, staff is unattentive (2 waiters for 45+ patrons) Prices are VERY high for the quality, portion sizes and value - paid 900MXN (45usd) EACH for 2 waters, 2 drinks, 4 appetizers and 1 entree This is an example of restaurant that will bring bad fame to Oaxaca. Shameful. Gave 2 stars because the view is part of the value proposition and it is gorgeous.

Very disappointed by this expensive meal. The service was slow and the flavors just didn’t jive together at all. Plus we got a couple of incorrect dishes, which took forever to sort. Tried to raise our concerns to the servers and they just weren’t interested. Wouldn’t go back or recommend to others.

Five years after, I Came back for the savory SOPA DE LA ABUELA. The best sopa de fideo I’ve had. The tostada de rib eye is delicious. The servings are small but very fulfilling. Most definitely a dinner with a view of Santo Domingo church. Food was great. Service not so good. Savory food makes up for the bad service.

What a disappointment - Not worth the visit Was so disappointed. We were here two years ago just when the pandemic started. We couldn't wait to get back and taste the grilled octopus again, the best we had ever tasted anywhere but that was two years ago. Not sure what happened to this fine place. Hoping they will get it back together once covid is over. The service was horrible. Untrained staff and not happy to be there. First the hostess advised we couldn't sit on the roof top as there was no room. We should have left at that time! We insisted the rooftop (they have a gorgeous view of the cathedral) or we would could go elsewhere, we were then escorted up to the roof top where there were at least 8 tables available. I asked for a pina colada before we made our wine selection, was told they don't make those at their bar. We finally ordered when the waiter remember he had a table. The music was way too loud and techno repetitive trash for a much younger, later in the night crowd not for early afternoon. I ordered the grilled octopus and was sorry I did. What a disappointment. It was slathered in mole so you couldn't taste the fish. The beet salad good. Very pretty to look at but not what you would expect from this restaurant. This is such a shame given this was one of the best restaurants in Oaxaca but not anymore. Chef, please go back to your original concept, as this new menu isn't worth your reputation. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend anyone eat here.
