PLANTATION HOUSE - Playa del Carmen

Awesome host/awesome place! felt like being a part of familly!

This place is Amazing. I felt like I was at home. Very comfortable. Quiet enough to feel like you are on vacation, but close enough to walk to everything.

This place is great. Right off of the 5th avenue craziness, but private. Joe and Francois are great hosts, invisible unless you need something. We had an issue with the AC, but as soon as we called it was fixed. We locked our keys inside and Joe was there five minutes after we called and let us in. We would stay here again.

The rooms were comfortable enough. The flights of stairs not so much but the view of the sea compensates for that. There is a lift that helps greatly in grocery and luggage carrying up to the third floor. Very safe and close to the beach and busy areas though loud sounds wasn't really an issue. Queries were answered fast via email.

We stayed in the bottom house. It's a really nice place, just be aware that the bedrooms are pretty much open so there isn't much privacy. Also it's a bit dark in the lower level which probably isn't a problem if you get one of the upper apartments. The location is great, you're really close to all of the main city center attractions and the beach but away from the noise because of the location and construction.

My partner and I as well as our small furry companion enjoyed an absolutely amazing week long experience at Plantation House. We stayed in the Barbados Suite which provided an intimate and cozy accomodation as well as a stellar view of the ocean from the rooftop terrace. I strongly recommend at least one rooftop outdoor rain shower during your stay. The premises themselves offer a lush outdoor private pool perfect for relaxing and an overall secure and comfortable atmosphere. Our hostess Francoise was nothing short of exemplary. She provided ample information and hospitality making our stay that much more enjoyable. If you are planning on traveling to Playa Del Carmen, skip the beach front resorts and stay in Centro at the Plantation House, you won't regret it.

We absolutely loved our stay on the top floor! The stairs are a great workout, but beware of this if you have mobility issues... a lower level room may be best in this case. We actually brought our kitty with us and were happy to find such a wonderful, clean, pet friendly place in a great location. Steps from the beach and restaurants, and a lovely courtyard. The only downside was a new parking payment system that had just been implemented by the city two weeks before our stay, be prepared for an endless search for coins and a boot on your car if you miss the payment. The state is currently working on forcing the city to remove the parking system due to complaints, so maybe it will be gone soon. We enjoyed our room (St. Lucia) and the beautiful ocean view that came with it. Joe is a friendly and helpful host, and we felt very welcomed with our cat. I would recommend skipping the resorts/ hotels if you want to have a more genuine experience of the area... we couldn't have loved our vacation more!

I've stayed at The Plantation House twice. Both the larger units on the bottom and top floor. I loved the building and incredible hospitality of Françoise and Joe so much I recommended my friends book two other units on my second stay. The lift is a great addition to help with luggage and groceries. Great views, and amazing architecture. Superlative hosts.
