Platinum Yucatán Princess All Suites & Spa Resort - 77710 Playa del Carmen

Our room smelled of cigarettes so we asked for a new room. They said every room was booked but they would clean it again and change our room tomorrow. We have to be at the concierge at 12 with all our belongings and then at 3 they’ll give us another room. So we’ll lose half our day packing our stuff and moving around. Dinner at the Italian restaurant was just ok, service was really slow. We were told the buffet is opened 24 hours. At 9:50 we went in to check it out. A lady stopped us to say the buffet was closed at 10. When we said we were told it 24 hours she let us know that they were going to put out snack food/fast food at 10 and we could wait at a table. We sat and watched as several people were getting food at the buffet so we went to see what there was. The lady came charging in rudely informing us they were closed. The staff was slowly cleaning up and we weren’t stopping them we just wanted to see what was left. She practically threw us out. When we got back to our room it smelled better but I found a hair in my bed… So not a great start. I really hope it gets better!!!

The moment I entered the grounds of the hotel I knew I'd made the right selection! Lush vegetation, immaculate landscaping and beautiful structural pieces make Platinum Yucatan Princess an impressive resort! Our suite was decorated with modern pieces and our private balcony looked out onto tranquil crystal clear pools. Although the pandemic has impacted many resort owners' ability to upgrade everything, the staff work hard and courteously to maintain the property and satisfy the guests. The food was tasty and offered much variety- Mexican as well as non-Mexican. I look forward to returning! Gracias!

Great place to visit, friendly staff for the most part. Sometimes the staff either don't listen or don't understand your drink request. The after hours snack manager is one of the kindest, most knowledgeable people and willing to help give you a proper taste of Mexican cuisine. The club is nothing special on site, but the staff was very nice. Don't bother going to the Japanese restaurant here, the teppanyaki (and "show") is not worth your time. The steak house restaurant is very nice, but the nice seats outside cost additional money :( The beach area is small, but nice and quiet. Be prepared for a lot of people trying to sell you stuff at all times. Rooms were clean and nothing got stolen.

We had an amazing 4 days at the resort, we wished we had stayed longer! Booked the Platinum honeymoon suite and the size of the room was great, location was close to the restaurants and the beach and room service and housekeeping was excellent! The 24-hour buffet and 24-hour bar was phenomenal; not all resorts have a 24-hour buffet and/or bar so it was amazing and very convenient to have this at the resort. Dinner at Tao was also spectacular and we enjoyed the nightly entertainment at the La Plaza Bar and the Salsa Bar, as well as the shows performed at the Theatre! We would definitely come back and stay at this resort! :)

There were some overlooked details of cleanliness and maintenance..... Aside from minor improvements that they could make, overall this place was amazing. Great food options on the all inclusive side, including the beach side snack shack. Fun drink/ bar options all over the resort, great swimming options, great hydrotherapy pool, spa was okay(first time we went for couples massage and it was so relaxing, however the second time I went by myself to get my legs waxed, the lady missed half my right leg), and finally there were friendly people everywhere!! A memorable experience and I would love to go again!!!!!!!

On arrival we were given the wrong room. We had to take the wrong room for a night and check out, check in the next day to the correct room. No customer service for the situation. not even a bottle of wine for the mess up and inconvenience. The restaurants were decent but the wine was not drinkable. We had to purchase wine every night with dinner. Most wines in stock were higher end. Most lower priced wines were not in stock of course. THERE ARE NO OUTSIDE RESTAURANTS. All restaurants are indoor dining only. You cannot take food outside to sit! This was strange considering we are in the warm weather because we want to be outside! The rooms were clean but just minimal. Towels were not refreshed. Bar fridge was not stocked and you had to pay extra for additional beer or soda etc. No snacks. We couldn't even get 2 extra beers as they were extra charge. they told us to go down to the bar instead room service was cold or even better not even delivered when we scheduled it with concierge Beach/Pool towels were hard to come by. You are provided 2 towels in your room and have to get new towels delivered to you. No pool side pickups at this resort We stayed in the platinum. There is really no difference in platinum vs normal rooms. Do not waste your money in this upgrade

I don't have enough words to express how wonderful it was to stay at this resort. We had originally reserved the Honeymoon Suite, but at check-in, we were upgraded to the Master Suite at no additional charge. This was, without a doubt, the best suite we've ever stayed in. The views and the room itself were stunning, and it made our trip that much more enjoyable. We were also given a complimentary bottle of champagne, a 50% discount on spa services, and complimentary reservations at Rodeo's bird cage. At the buffet, Brian and Janet were fantastic! If you're going to eat there, sitting in their section will make your meal so much more enjoyable! The beach was also lovely! The plaza's nightly shows were fantastic. Casino night was definitely our favorite. The valet attendants even paid for our Taxi since we didn’t bring enough pesos and couldn’t pay with cards. We just got back from our trip but we’re already booking a trip back to Platinum Princess next month!

GROSSLY MISREPRESENTED 5* resort. Booked at the Platinum Princess Yucatan for our 10 day honeymoon and only lasted 24 hours. Would rather go home and skip out on our honeymoon than stay at this resort. Beach: we were warned that the beach may have some seaweed but we did NOT expect that the beach would be unmaintained, over grown with vegetation, and invaded by a dense layer of seaweed that stunk. Beach ultimately was not usable. Neighbouring beaches were way better. Rooms: we arrived to our room without a loaded mini-fridge, hangers, or towels. We then quickly found out that our bed sheets were soiled with multiple brown stains throughout. Outdoor hot tub was stained with rust. Outside our door also lived a tribe of ants. Overall, would describe the rooms as minimal and grimy with questionable cleaning. Service: slow and non responsive service. Staff were not very friendly and did not look happy to be working. This included front desk staff, bartenders, housekeeping, etc. Food: only ate at the buffet once due to our skepticism around cleanliness and sanitation. The only “safe” food seemed to be the pasta that was made to order. Drinks were gross - most likely due to the very cheap alcohol that was used and being watered down. Overall resort: this is NOT a luxurious 5* resort. It severely lacked cleanliness. Aunts and flies all over, mold throughout, algae everywhere you step, holes in ceilings with uncleaned debris for days on end. Dirty dishes were left around entire resort, as well as empty cans and bottles. The resorts only redeeming quality is that they did eventually end up refunding us our money for our unused nights. We will not recommend the Platinum Princess Yucatan resort, or any Princess resort for that matter, to anyone and suggest that the rating be demoted to a 2* in order for the resort to be properly represented.
