We had so much fun on our vacation at Playa Azul! Very clean and bright. Close proximity to the beautiful beach, and was not crowded. We ate at the Restaurant a few times too, and it was delicious. We were so happy to spend time here and can't wait to come back.

We really liked that the resort is away from the busy city. The pools and slides were a hit with our kids and we liked the proximity to the beach. This resort is still under construction and that is why I didn't give it the full five stars. Be prepared to wake up to construction noise. This part of the beach has a lot of shells which is great for littles who like collecting, however, when the tide is high, you are stepping into the water on broken shells, so make sure you bring water shoes! Otherwise, low tides in the mornings and evenings are best for playing in the water. This resort also has a restaurant available if you don't bring your own food. The drinks are good, but the food is not great. We only ate there once as we brought our own food to the condo.

This place is still being constructed. Wear your hard hat and update your life insurance policy. Cool location and this resort will be ok in about a decade when it’s completed (they started building in 2007, slow progress). Lots of construction noise. I would encourage you to look beyond management’s photos. Order food from the restaurant knowing you will wait 1.5h each time and you’ll be alright. Caution, you can recognize the marketing and condo owner reviews, because they only have 5 stars and amazing photos.

The resort itself is unfished as they are in the first stages of building. It looks a little scary from the front. Once you're inside, you're transported to a beautiful Oasis. The staff was superb. The front desk clerks spoke English really well for non speaking Spanish guests. The kids loved the slides, the hot tub, the pools, the close access to the beach, as well as the volleyball and soccer courts. My family of 16 stayed in Villa 17 at Playa Azul. I was a great location, across the street from the pools, and a two minute walk to the volleyball court and soccer set up. You step outside and you are on the beach. The location is one of the best for this Villa. The Villa was beautiful inside. I LOVE that there is a bathroom off the patio so you don't have to go inside and get sand all over the place. There are some little things I didn't like. None of the beautiful white cabinets had handles so it was difficult to open them. Anytime someone wanted to get in a cabinet is was annoying. We left some of the cabinets slightly open for this reason. The longer we stayed there, the more annoying this became. There is no shower in the master bathroom, only a tub. When you have 16 people sharing a space, it's important to have showers. We thought it was so odd that a master bathroom wouldn't have a shower. Not a single person used the tub. There is a full unfurnished bedroom and full bathroom upstairs in the unfinished patio of the house. This would have been amazing if there was a bed up there so someone who wanted to be away from everyone can stay in the room and have a bathroom all to themselves. There weren't any shower curtains! We had to put a towel down to catch the water like a bathmat. We rented this beautiful Villa and were disappointed the basic things we needed weren't included. (shower curtains, knobs to cabinets). Upstairs was a HUGE unfinished BBQ area with no tables. This is a complete miss on the owners part. I could have seen my family spending the evenings eating dinner up there if we had table(s) and chairs to eat out there. There is a wonderful opportunity here and there is an unfinished grill for private grilling with a sink included. Instead we had to use the shared grills with the rest of the resort. If they are already reserved, you're out of luck in BBQing for the night. There are only three grills for the entire resort. This seems like a small miss but it is huge when the villas on both sides of us had finished grills. The dryer was worthless. It looked like a brand new dryer and it took hours for it to dry our wet clothes. We think the vent was blocked or there was no vent/air flow. I love having a washer and dryer but when the drying takes three hours to drive, that defeats the purpose. We ended up laying our wet clothes on the floor of the upstairs area as it only had six chairs. There were no curtains covering the back patio doors. It would have been nice if we could block the sunlight in the morning for those who were sleeping in the shared space. I would recommend Villa 17 but know about the nuances you're getting with the rental. For the amount we paid to stay in the villa, I would expect more. I hope the owner of the villa reads this because they really need to up their basic amenities. If they did, I would be recommending this place to everyone!

This Resort when completed will be very nice. However it is very very far away from all of the restaurants and shopping. Almost a 20 min drive. Road to the resort off the main HW is about 2 miles of all dirt and not very smooth. Car shocks took a beating. Resort is currently under construction. We heard banging and drilling until 7:30pm and it started again in the morning at 7am. Not minor drilling either, it literally sounded like it was right above us. It was so incredibly loud. One elevator currently running, super small could only fit 3 people with bags . There was 6 of us so we had to take several trips to get everything up to the room. Took almost 45 minutes because everyone else is using the same 1 elevator to get to their room or the parking garage. Needless to say we will not be returning until construction is finished if at all.

The resort is still under construction which we were unaware of. It's located about 20 minutes outside of town and the last few miles are on a dirt road. Our room was extremely nice. The jacuzzi the last two nights of our stay wasn't hot enough to enjoy. Positive thing was that it wasn't crowded. The beach was relaxing and you didn't have people trying to sell you thing's. We ordered food from the restaurant and each time it took an hour to get our food and it wasn't even crowded.

We stayed at the Playa Azul Resort from 12.26.21 until 12.30.21 and left with plenty of good and bad memories. As most reviews share driving up you will be VERY deceived by the appearance of the back of the building. However when you make it to the lobby you are brought back to peace. The condo was extremely nice. However, the water stopped working shortly after being in the condo and we had to wait almost 24 hours before it was turned back on. We were on the 8th floor and the best option was for us to use the bathroom/showers from a condo on the 3rd floor. We checked in around 6PM and the restaurant closed at 7PM so by the time we got through the headache of dealing with water we couldn't eat. Instead we had to cook and have the dishes that we couldn't wash build up in the sink. The next day around 1PM the water is finally fixed (never been so happy). We planned to have dinner at the restaurant (group of 20) and ended up waiting over three hours for our food to be served. Food was below bar level quality... The best part about dealing with all of the issues during the stay is being woken up at 7AM every morning to construction work (hammers, cranes etc.). Also the pools are not heated so I would not recommend going outside of the summer unless you want to spend the entire time in the hot tub (we did). The hot tub is very nice. I recommend staying in a villa until construction is complete to avoid a lot of the headaches, as we encountered.
