Playa Bonita - 24500 Campeche

A man-made white sand beach beach. Parking costs 90 pesos. The hustlers start as soon as you leave the parking lot... Hammock and lounge chair rentals, etc. Your directed under cabanas by waiters for restaurant s and then there's no peace as they keep coming back for drink or meal orders. Loud music and louder mexican males compete with ever louder noise levels. If you're out to party, this one is for you, if you're wanting a romantic Beach day with your significant other... Not. Beaches around Campeche are usually rocky.

Very clean facilities. Waiters are a little bit aggressive when you first show up but very cordial and attentive once you pick a spot. Cheap rentals.

I was surprised by playa bonita. The space is very well kept, you don't have to pay to use the space (the entrance fee is only 2 pesos for locals and 40 pesos for others), the food and drinks are very cheap compared to other places that are on the shore. The only downside that I could see is that they close very early so you can't stay here all day, but the beach that is beside the restaurant is public so you can move a few meters and still stay there longer. The water has a beautiful crystal blue color, and you can easily see some small fish and shells in the sand. Expect to see a lot of sargaso (algae), but that is normal in the region, and it doesn't indicate anything besides a great amount of alae that are being washed to shore. If you are in Campeche and want to come here for the day you can take the bus (14 pesos roundtrip) and it takes like 20-30 minutes one-way (take the bus that goes in direction towards TEC, so the technological university). If you want to take a cab it can be up to 200 roundtrip.

The neatest beach from downtown Campeche. You can get there by Combi (a collective transport) or by bus. I don't recommend that you take a taxi.

Campeche is a fishing town but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy a trip to the beach. Bonita (meaning pretty), is a great place to go to enjoy the beautiful coast. There's a small charge to get in and it will require a taxi ride to get there but well worth it. Awaiting your arrival are friendly staff, good food, drinks, sun lounges and wonderful views. If you're in Campeche, make sure you check this place out.

Quiet place on weekdays with clear water and almost no waves. Entrance fee for walk-ins is two pesos per person and you can rent two lounge chairs and a plapa for 20 pesos for the whole day. Compare that to 250 pesos per person in Playa del Carmen. You can take the bus going to Lerma for 7 pesos per person, and just tell the driver "Playa Bonita por favor" If you are returning to Campeche take the bus from the same place you got dropped off as the buses only go in one direction and make a loop through Lerma and back to Campeche. There are 3 restaurants on the beach but only 2 were open serving seafood, chicken, beer, and refreshments. If you like fish, don't miss the opportunity to have one of the best pescado asado in Yucatan, and the presentation was second to none. You pick your fish before they cook it, and Abel will grill it to your liking. Super cheap day at the beach. Have fun!

It is a nice beach but once you enter you are bombarded with restaurant staff trying to sell you food and drinks. If you manage to find a quiet spot, it is quite lovely. Clean toilets and showers. ?? Water for swimming was okay. A bit dirty water.
