Nice beach but with too many people learning to surf which makes it very difficult to catch the waves without crashing. Waves are good for beginners

Tengan cuidado con la gente que acampa en la calle Brisas, justo frente a los locales de Punta Origen. PESIMA EXPERIENCIA. Los policias no se toman en serio su trabajo y no nos ayudaron en nada.
Insecure, alone, with people from other places that you don't know if they are hunting you or just there. In my experience everything was stolen at 11:00 in the morning. Be careful with the people who camp on Brisas street, right in front of the Punta Origen premises. AWFUL EXPERIENCE. The policemen do not take their work seriously and they did not help us at all.

I was so psyched before going to la punta and after 2 weeks of surfing here I must say - its the most unchill surf spot I have ever seen. Not because of the wave itself, its a solid left point break with nice speed. But because of the amount and kind of people.
There are at all times at least 40-50 people in the lineup, extremely close to each other because it's a point break. The locals and advanced surfers catch the wave early but can't really ride it because at least 6 other people will drop in anyway. The intermediate surfers have their own battle going on to catch the leftovers and to not get run over by the people riding the face already. And the beginners are forced to drop in by their instructors no matter how crowded the wave already is.
But even worse is the vibe. It is extremely aggressive and tensed. From 10 out of 14 days there were real fist fights in the water and people crashing in each other and getting seriously injured - almost always involved are the surf instructors. They push the beginners in the wave even though there is no space.
If you want to surf in Mexico, I can honestly not recommend la punta.
