D	Donna Fong on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We walked through the ruins to access the beach. Although we stayed at Playacar, our site isn't directly on the beach. And we couldn't drive up a publicly accessible point. There is no such thing. So we were dropped off at Retorno Palenque, walked down the block, turned left through the ruins, turn right at the end of the ruins, past the houses and left at Isala de lo Alto. Then go right to access the nicer part of the beach.

There are multiple phases of Playacar and you can't necessarily walk from one to the other without backtracking. The neighborhoods are quaint and shady and the walk is pleasant. Be prepared to take a cab unless you have your own car, bicycle, or scooter. The ruins are small and not in the best shape but definitely worth checking out particularly because it is free to the public.
