★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'm a Chicago guy and eating out at Popeye's in the 90s and early aughts was one of my favorite indulgences. It was rich and fatty but oh-so-good and satisfying. Huge spicy pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes, amazingly buttery biscuits. This isn't even a pale imitation. I've scavenged better food out of the dumpster.
Small pieces of chicken are unconventionally cut to save expense, I guess. The white meat was overcooked severely and isolated sections of the coating were close to being burned. The drumstick was pretty good, though, hence the two stars. These really are awfully tiny chickens!
I ordered picosito but only one small crevice on one piece of chicken contained any seasoning, which if it had been everywhere, would have tempered my reactions.
Tiny portion of short, dessicated fries.
Tiny, flavorless biscuits made of sawdust.
I don't expect exact copies of American fast food but this was absolutely the worst attempt I've yet had the misfortune of trying.
