Not sure where to start with this. We were looking for an "authentic" Mexican experience but with plenty of guidance to get the "inside scoop" on activities and restaurants. Everyone on Traveadvisor raved about Tom's help. Apparently he was sick and unavailable during our entire 6 day stay. So we were on our own. The hotel was clean and pleasant enough. The 3 breakfast choices got very boring after a few days. When we tried to get fruit in addition to the entree (omelette or Mex fried egg on chips), that cost extra and they were pretty rude/obstinate about collecting it. The bad part started when my wife injured her foot on a trip to the cenote. She was on crutches and our room was on the 2nd floor (no elevator) and breakfast on roof (no elevator). We had pre-paid for 6 days, so I asked for a prorated refund for the remainder of the stay so we could switch to a hotel that was on one level -- maybe at the beach. The guy who was filling in for Tom (he never introduced himself and hid behind a locked door during our stay) flat out refused and acted like this was totally unreasonable. Then he got into a shouting match with me. We stayed. She was able to hobble up the stairs on crutches. What else? Well, half of the time, only a trickle of water came out of the shower. I wrote a note that maybe they shouldn't charge us for the extra 2 fruit plates for our party of 7 because we skipped an entire breakfast for 7 people but next day they asked again for the breakfast $. I offered a 200 peso bill but they had no change. So I paid the 60 I had. The next day, they ran out of food for breakfast. Later, my son left his iPad in the breakfast area and when he went back there, it was gone. He frantically tried to ask the staff if they had seen it with limited Spanish and the help of Google translator. No luck. The next day, one of the cleaning people mentioned that the boss had it. He was holding it hostage for our remaining 40 pesos! Oh. Did I mention that the Internet only worked sporadically and that it is on the far side of town about 4 miles from the beach?

Tom is the owner and runs the place on the everyday's activities. He is an exceptional guy. Always helpfull, kind and cheerfull. The place is amazing, clean. With just a few rooms (12 i think) you will feel at home. I didnt hear any loud sound. When, after a full day, you come back to rest, you will find an animal made of towel on your bed. A very special touch. For sure I am staying in here if I ever come back to tulum. Only bad point was the weak water flow on the shower.

Let me just first say that we had the best time at Posada Luna del Sur. If you're going to Tulum, and you want to do it right imho, stay here! Tom is so gracious and helpful. The room we stayed in was so cute and spacious. The service is great. Its quiet and peaceful, and yet very close(just a short walk)to everything in town. Tom really helps accentuate your stay. Tulum is a magical place by itself, so whatever you're into, the beach, culture, adventure, nice restaurants, the best taco stand, ruins, Cenotes, Tom will help find you a hidden gem to explore. We also loved the rooftop terrace to start our day off with a nice breakfast. We will definitely be back the next time we're in town!

Gem of a find. Well regarded in online reviews, and is clean, quiet and provides excellent service. A beach hotel was tempting, but seeing the mosquito nets in tje rooms there as we passed by, we were happy to save money and take a 5 dollar cab to the beach.

This is the best place ever. The stay was great, everything was organized, the continental breakfast was wonderful, the hotel staff was very accommodating and most of all, the rooms were totally clean. You can't go wrong with this place.

Me and my wife have stayed 3 nights in this warm and welcoming hotel. The room is equipped with a small kitchen which is great for small breakfast or midnight snack. The bed is very comfortable and the housekeeping staff keep the room very clean. Posadas' shampoo and body lotions are very pleasant to use. Our host, Tom is simply awesome! He spent great deal of time explaining the different attractions, bars, restaurants with details personal recommendations. He also organized our trip to Tulum and Coba archeological sites with a private driver. With his assistance our stay in Tulum was wonderful! To all my friends from Israel readers, this is the place to stay in Tulum, you will not be disappointed!

Posada Luna del Sur was fantastic! Our favorite part was Tom, the owner, who is extremely knowledgeable about the area and provided us with a map of the best restaurants and activities in the area when we arrived. The hotel is conveniently located downtown, and is a short walking distance to many restaurants. The room was clean and ready for us when we arrived, which was great because we did get in earlier than expected. All the staff was very friendly and made the stay just perfect. The breakfast in the morning is delicious and authentic, made fresh in house every morning.
