sometimes the boat take its time when departure from Punta, but if you want go to isla mujeres with car, maybe this is good reference as below, because the rental golf car is not cheap to have.

A couple of weeks ago the port captain stopped all foot passenger traffic on the car ferries. Before you could cross for 90 pesos return to Isla Mujeres, now you must use one of the other ferry companies for 300 pesos! ???

You get what you pay for.. Way cheaper than the other option (80pesos return compared to 320) but super super slow. On our way there we spent 80 minutes just waiting to take off. The ride itself is super beautiful but takes about an hour.

If you don’t have a car and would like to go on the ferry only as a passenger, you pay the same price as the ultramar express (150 pesos one way). We tried to join the cargo as passengers because read it would be a lot cheaper but apparently they changed their mind. We decided to drive back to the ultramar express as their schedule is way more flexible.

December 10. 2020. It was great experience....short and very comfortable ride.....everything well organized. I gave 5 stars even they did have 1/2 hour delay....but this is Mexico....and they had a lot of cars and trucks to load. It is reccomended to show up at least one hour before scheduled departure....and the schedule is at 11 am...etc....from Punta Sam. (Not 10:30 as some have suggested) It is 280 pesos one way for the car and driver (just under 15 USD) every other passenger pays 170 pesos one way ( 9 USD)..those prices are for tourists. I you have Quintana Roo ID card you pay a lot less ( example: passenger would pay 50 pesos one way, about 2.50USD) You can buy return trip up front. It is very good to have car on the island, but not necessary if you want to rent golf cart for 15 USD per hour. Island itself is very "touristy"....beach crowded even during covid...it was not up to our expectations.

We use ultramar cargo (not express). The published time online were incorrect. Luckily there the times seem to be shifted by 30 minutes. Ex we went to catch an 8 am ferry but they said they only had an 830. Not sure on other times and their impact. We used cargo because foot passengers are only 40 pesos per person! Very nice aircondition roomed with Starbucks. This ferry (cargo) is used to transport cars/trucks/semi but has additional space for passengers. We were nervous because we saw someone say foot passengers no longer allowed but we had no issues getting on. Drive to the end parking there, the ticket office is also on the left infront of parking lot. Note this is cargo not express. Express cost 300 per person smaller but slightly faster. Express leaves you on main pier, cargo does not. You need to walk 5 minutes to get to main peir which is the start of the hub area. Our ferry departed 5 minutes late and took 30 to 35 minutes to get there. Safe travels2

Enjoyed the ride over to isla mujeres. Reasonable price Limited schedule. Docks close to the town
