De acuerdo a los resultados del Conteo de Población y Vivienda de 2005 realizado por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía, Pomuch tiene un total de 8,180 habitantes, de los cuales 4,162 son hombres y 4,018 son mujeres.[7]
Pomuch es reconocido a nivel estatal e incluso nacional por sus tradicionales panes, de distintos tipos y formas. Sobresale el "Pan de Pichón" o Sandwichón, que consiste en un pan con relleno de jamón, queso y jalapeño.
