I happened on this place as I was walking home and stepped in to inquire about cheese and fresh chicken also for sale. I have been wanting to try the queso fresco. They also sell quesilla, the traditional Oaxacan cheese, and Mennonite cheese which is similar to jack cheese. One of the owners, Mike, speaks perfect English, and he described all the things they sell there besides cheese. He was delightful and obviously takes great pride in the products they sell. Everything is made by someone he knows personally--except, perhaps, the Mennonites. I bought chicken breast, queso fresco, refried pinto beans, Mennonite cheese, and Christmas cookies. Mike's wife (I didn't catch her name) makes the pinto beans and yogurt. Mike made the cookies. They sell pan dulce which he says is the best in town, crackers, chicharrón , organic eggs, pickled chilies, and a whole lot of other things I didn't take note of. The two cheeses I bought are delicious. I will go back for yogurt and eggs when I am out. I'm glad to have found a new neighborhood specialty food store. Check it out.
