★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place was perfection. Staff lovely, service great and best of all, the food was delicious--my husband and I had 3 different kinds of mole--his with pork, mine with plantains--plus homemade corn tortillas from organic local corn and two kinds of salsa, everything truly incredible and delivered with low key grace at a shady outdoor table. And, ridiculously affordable. If you're looking for a chill, delicious authentic meal in Merida, look no further!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It’s all in the details, the food is great, the staff is super, the ambiance is perfect, the drinks and wine is amazing! But it’s when you start noticing the details that Ramiro Cocina is a restaurant that sets a new high bar of fine dining, in preserving the traditional and at the same time elevation and evolving what it is to have a good meal, presented in a basic but elegant way.
I can’t put it in no other way, to sit in there in the restaurant courtyard, with a nice Mexican white win, in the shade under the palm trees, tasting these classic dishes with an modern twist is pure bliss, in my not so humble opinion Ramiro Cocina is a gem of Mexican cuisine, if you find yourself in Mérida and appreciate fine dining, this is a must try!
I really appreciate the rustic look of the furniture and cutlery, and when you look closer it is all handmade and every piece is unique, in the same way as when you ask for something so trivial (yes it’s my dirty pleasure) as a Margarita drink, the salt on the rime of the glass is smoked together with habaneros and gives as chilli bite as well as a smokey saltiness. Don’t get me started on the food, we have only been here two times now and is planning to come back, Ceviche atuin (not sure if I spelled it right, my Spanish is under all critique) The tuna tartare with pineapple in a lime marinade, is to die for, but at time of writing, they only serve it on Saturdays and they change the menu most days, witch is fun, if your are at the restaurant on a Saturday I implore you to ask for it!
If you want to have a high end traditional Mexican lunch, in a low-key and graceful setting, with a small but well thought true selection of drinks and wine, with competent and caring staff Ramiro Cocina is the place for you.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Spectacular food in cute laidback restaurant with excellent service! We had the birra, the moles and the calabaza quesadillas. They were all delicious. I must admit that the tortillas were my favorite part of the meal, some of the best I’ve ever had. The cod was also fantastic. 100% recommend!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This small, hardly noticeably restaurant is a gem. Mérida is not well-known for it's traditional Mexican cuisine, most local fare would be better classified as "Yucateco". However, if you do seek authentic, homemade, Mexican food, this is the place. Easily at the level of Pujol in terms of quality and flavor, but 10% the cost. I'm honestly stunned they roast every vegetables, every chile by hand, tortillas are handmade with real maíz (if you know, you know). Cannot recommend enough. Tried mole verde con puerco, quesabirria, and molotes. Agua de mango maduro was stellar.
Installations (cleanliness, upkeep and overall feel) 4/5 plus for beautiful garden, minus for garage and kitchen equipment visible.
Food 5/5. 6/5, if I could.
Drinks 5/5
Service 5/5

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We just happened to be walking by and thought there was a good vibe and the restaurant was small but decorated amazingly. Looked the place up and saw the food at least looked good so we decided to come back later and are so happy that we did. Very accommodating service with our baby, it started raining and they hopped into action and rushed us inside and made room in the tiny dining / bar area.
Food is only written on the board and each dish was explained to us in English which is not necessary but very helpful for us. After the first couple dishes we started thinking this may be our new favorite place in Merida.
The only place they fell short in MY opinion was the cocktails, a little too sweet and there was no set menus just options of liquor, juices, and fruits.
The food and service made up for a lacking in cocktails so we left more than happy.
We also really liked that they showed us a recipe book from their family and seemed to really care about each dish being prepared and served.
